When I look back on this part of my life these days, I find myself smiling. I think that, perhaps, that is the greatest gift of all. The memories of him sit comfortably in my mind – all of them glazed over in soft gold. I won’t write his name here. But I will tell you that the first time I met him, he was wearing a navy-blue suit. And there was something in his eyes that tugged at a string in my soul. As if it recognized the spark of a moment that meant something.

Midnights is Taylor Swift’s Worst Album
In order to make myself perfectly clear, I have to start by saying that I have been a diehard Taylor Swift fan since Day One. “Tim McGraw” was playing on the radio, and I was 100% there for it. And I have been for every single song and album since. I started writing reviews/posts about her albums after she released 1989. I never thought of them as reviews, they were really just little blogs sharing my thoughts about each album. It was never my intention to destroy an entire household. But maybe that’s the origin story of every villain. The one thing I can say in my defense is that refilling the ice cube tray was not on my list of priorities. And therefore, not a habit. It never occurred to me that my reckless lack of care would ever harm the fabric of society. But that just shows you what wanton selfishness will lead you to.

an open letter to ernest hemingway... kind of
So, here is the story: When I was a sophomore in college, I was taking a class called Medieval British Literature. This class, to put it mildly, absolutely changed my life. Truly. I do not know how to accurately express how much taking this class moved me. How my life shifted forever. And I will always be grateful. It is one of the best classes I have ever taken, and I’d take it again in a heartbeat.

California, 1957 Thomas Davenport checked his watch. A quarter to ten. Right on schedule, John came strolling through the morning light and sat across from him at the café table. When they’d become acquainted years before, he had introduced himself to Thomas as John Smith. This clearly wasn’t his real name, but Thomas wasn’t allowed to ask questions. Nor did he wish to. Besides, he doubted John even remembered his real name anymore.

It Feels Different When You're With Me: One Year of "Heartbreak Weather"
I cannot believe that Niall Horan released Heartbreak Weather one year ago. (Well it was actually a year ago tomorrow, but we're here now.) Whether you are a Niall fan from his first album, or back from the One Direction days, I think we can all agree that watching him grow and flourish the last few years has been such a lovely thing. And this album was no exception. Flicker was so incredible that expectations were high for NH2, and our boy Niall did not disappoint. His second album was everything we needed, everything we wanted, and then some.
