The SS Codopaxy's perplexing disappearance in 1925, while en route from Charleston, South Carolina, to Havana, Cuba, adds a layer of intrigue to the already mystifying narrative. Decades later, the discovery of a wreck off St Augustine, Florida, only deepened the mystery, as specialists, unable to definitively identify its origin, dubbed it "Bear Rat."
