People Who Inspired Me To Be A Writer: Kevin Williamson (Screenwriter/filmmaker)
As a lifelong lover of cinema and screenwriting, if someone were to ask me who my favorite screenwriters of all time were, one of the top two names that would come up is Kevin Williamson. The films he wrote, as well as his writing style, not only contributed to my love for cinema and writing, but also made me interested in studying the art of filmmaking at a very young age.

Candyman: Impact of a Legend
”What do the good know other than what the bad teach them by their excesses…?” This is perhaps my favorite quote from the 1992 psychological horror/slasher film Candyman. There are not too many people who are unfamiliar with that name. For the past 30 years this film has sent a fearful shiver down the spines of all who have seen it. Candyman was released in October of 1992, written and directed by Bernard Rose and based off a short story titled “The Forbidden” by Clive Barker. Candyman was unlike anything anyone had ever seen before in the slasher genre. It carried a psychological shock factor, it’s primary antagonist was an African American male, and it’s story was centered around the taboo fourth wall of American society, Race. All of these combining factors would make Candyman one of the most iconic staples in horror/slasher history.

Jamie Lee Curtis: Tribute to a Queen
If someone were to ask me to name some of the greatest actresses of all time, one actress who I could not go without mentioning is Jamie Lee Curtis. She is one of the most multidimensional performers in the history of show business. In light of the upcoming release of Halloween Ends, in which she concludes her iconic role as Laurie Strode after 44 years I wanted to write a tribute article commending her for all the amazing work she has contributed to cinema.

The “A Nightmare on Elm Street” series is one of the greatest horror/slasher series ever and of course the infamous and lovable Freddy Krueger is one of the most Iconic villains of not just horror, but cinema over all. Fans such as myself are proud to say we have horror master Wes Craven to thank for this iconic series.

People Who Inspired Me To Be A Writer: Creed (Rock band)
I will never forget the first time I heard the voice of Scott Stapp and the lyrics of the songs he wrote with his band mate Mark Tremonti. It was in late July in the summer of 2000, which was the first time I had ever went to California to visit my family for our yearly family reunion which lasts for three days. When I first made it to California the first place I went was the city of Hercules in the Bay Area, where my grandparents lived. When we arrived at their house, which was the most beautiful home I had ever seen, I went upstairs to my mother’s old bedroom with some of my cousins who I had just met for the first time. My grandparents were big movie buffs and kept a thousand movies just like me, my mom and my sisters. Playing on the tv in my mom’s room was the horror/slasher film Scream 3 from Wes Craven. It was playing in the VCR and we just happened to catch it from the beginning. Inside the first ten minutes of the film the song titled “What If” from the band known as Creed started playing. It caught my attention because it carried a very unique tune. It would be five months before I heard the song again and little did I know at the time, Creed would become my top favorite rock band ever.

Child’s Play: Impact of a Legend.
“Hi I’m Chucky and I’m your friend to the end…” That quote has sent shivers down the spines of horror-phobes and put smiles on the faces of horror fans for the past 34 years. That quote comes from the Good Guy doll possessed by the infamous Charles Lee Ray aka Chucky in the Child’s Play horror film series created by Don Mancini. From 1988 all the way to this very moment, the Child’s Play franchise has been and still is one of the greatest and most influential horror/slasher franchises in film history. Understanding the success and impact of the Child’s Play brand is actually very simple, all the credit goes to the legacy of the Franchise’s central villain, Chucky and the creative storytelling from series creator, Don Mancini.

Halloween: Impact of a Legend.
October 25th, 1978 will forever be known as one of the most historical dates in horror film history. It was the day that John Carpenter and Debra Hill released the most defining horror/slasher film of all time, Halloween. If you are a fan of the slasher genre then you need no introduction to the background of Halloween. The legacy of Halloween has transpired over the course of 13 films, 44 years and 3 generations of fandom.
