The last days of Larry Dean. Content Warning.
For the first time in a long time, I felt joy. My father, who resided at Seattle hospital, due to some negligence on Missoula Community Hospital, and a stupid nurse, resided there for five months. Thanksgiving was two weeks away, and all my brothers, all 13 of them, were sharing the joy alongside me.

Mia amo, mia koro
When you think of love, you think of bumping into that just right stranger, eyes connecting with a spark, and all else seems to be just background noise. You think of kissing their lips, running tapered fingers through fluffy hair, and getting lost in emotional eyes.

Should have been A Cowboy
The first song I ever heard by this Patriotic, redneck of rednecks singer, was “Should have been a Cowboy.” His voice and songs followed my tastes, my mother’s, my father’s, and my grandmother’s, all of us adoring his music. We loved the epitome of country-boy rock. This man was the cornerstone of country music, a royal in the scheme of things, my generation’s version of Hanks WIlliams Jr. At least from my perspective. And today, on February 6th, 2024, I found out that not only was he sick, but he passed away, joining the other great artists beyond the stars.

Fireflower Flood
The only light was the glow of a blue hued moon. Mimi stood on her balcony, watching as the lower levels of the street and buildings flooded with icy water. She didn’t know what happened exactly, but she woke up and the valley she lived in for most of her life was turning back into a prehistoric lake. So many people drowned, and so many left for higher grounds or simply left the town altogether. No one knows what started the sudden flood, but when it did, the canyon collapsed, clogging the way out through the east. To the west, the small mountains dissolved, turning into trash and rubble walls.

Cutis Mea
Take a look at my skin. The biggest organ that I own, that was made just for me. It is covered in pale lines, with starbursts along my shoulders, and down my arms. This skin is rippling with tiger stripes, and dimples that can fit thumbs. Pinch it, and the skin can turn a peachy pink. Bite it, and the indents of teeth leave ruby hues. Cold, it turns white and soon blue. Burnt and my skin is a painful red, raw. It can turn a red, coppery brown from gentle ease from the sun, darkening and changing.
