Opossum Balls and my Authentic Self
Sometimes we go through our days without paying much attention. We flit from one thing to the next without considering if our actions reflect our core values. When we go through life without following our values, we lose ourselves and our ability to generate real happiness.

Neuschwanstein Castle: A Real-Life Fairy Tale
“Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer” – Anonymous Close your eyes and picture a magnificent white castle nestled at the top of a hill. You can see its glorious towers and turrets springing up through the mist. Picturesque snow-capped mountaintops and crystal lakes surround it. Many of you may be picturing the well-known Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland. After all, we see it at the beginning of every Disney movie. Perhaps you have even been there yourself. But, did you know that there is an actual castle in Europe that inspired Disney’s creation? It sits high in the Alps in southwest Bavaria, Germany. A Picture-Perfect Postcard: County Kerry, Ireland

My bed-and breakfast, Earl’s Court House, warmly greeted my husband and I with traditional Irish tea and scones in their antique-filled lounge.

The Perfect Pairing: Edgar Allan Poe and Halloween. Top Story - October 2021.
While he spoke, the lady Madeline (for so was she called) passed slowly through a remote portion of the apartment, and, without having noticed my presence, disappeared. I regarded her with an utter astonishment not unmingled with dread--and yet I found it impossible to account for such feelings. A sensation of stupor oppressed me, as my eyes followed her retreating steps. Edgar Allan Poe (The Fall of the House of Usher)

Beware. Witch lives here.
The young girl's room was enveloped in blackness. She lay in her narrow bed, her eyes wide open. Sleep would not come. A combination of fear and pain guaranteed that it would be a long night. Her eyes darted around the room, finally coming to rest on the thin white curtain covering her window. It blew in the light breeze, like a haunting spirit. Pale light from the nearby waterfront filtered through the translucent cloth, casting fluid shapes on the wall.

The Nose Knows
Which of the five senses is the most important to you? Is it your sense of taste, smell, touch, sight, or hearing? If you are like most people, you probably answered either sight or hearing. If you asked your dog, however, his choice would be the sense of smell.

Boos on Broadway: A Halloween Playlist
After more than a year of darkness due to the pandemic, the lights of Broadway are shining brightly once again. And I, for one, am ready for those curtains to part, transporting me and the audience on a shared journey. Live performances affect us in palpable ways, building empathy and nurturing compassion. Of course, they also take us to the darker sides of humanity. As soon as box offices opened, I planned a weekend to New York City. This month I’ll be attending Moulin Rouge and Six, in addition to two traveling Broadway shows, Waitress and Pretty Woman, in Washington DC before the end of year.
