Night Drive
It was nearing dusk when I made it onto the highway. I had a long drive ahead of me and I was not looking forward to it. At first it didn't seem so bad but then I missed an exit. The GPS app on my phone made it seem farther than it actually was on the road.

The rain had started to fall and it would continue to pour throughout the night. There was a constant patter that produced a natural rhythm against the windowpane. Besides his small bottle of whiskey, which had cost two-hundred and fifty dollars due to this year’s liquor production shortage, it was the only other substance that provided solace. While taking another sip, the standard eighteen-fifteen hologram automatically now began to obstruct the glass in his hand.
