Eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, is a chronic inflammatory skin condition. It typically causes patches of dry, itchy, and red skin that may sometimes be accompanied by small bumps, scaling, or weeping. Eczema can occur anywhere on the body, but it's most commonly found on the hands, feet, wrists, face, and backs of the knees. In some cases, eczema can also cause thickened, leathery skin or dark patches.
