Look Upon the Stars
The universe held it’s breath, solemn, anticipating. Lover’s hands entwined in the farthest reaches of the lonely rock and children snuggled into their maternal bosom. A hush fell over the crowded streets, men put aside their drinks, as though to look away would be to miss it. A billion eyes hypnotised by the void inside the television, transfixed on the white noise, waiting. A crackle. A hum. The soft mutter of a radio. Then life.

The Captain is Not Dead
The sombre slosh of the sea is soothing. The song of silence embraces her. Soft, her hair dances with the tide, entangled in the icy coolness. Bubbles of air weave between her fingers. The trim of her dress drifts lazily around her ankles, tugging lightly with the current. The surface is just above her, wide and vast as a desert of water. She closes her eyes as she sinks, not wanting to let go of the bliss of the shock, not wanting to remember...

The Forest Mind
When I wake, I wake in a bed of fog. Cold fog, like my skin were made of steel, with ice frozen over the surface. Waiting to crack, to shatter away. The haze seeps into my skull, feeding the storm clouds which rage within. It’s lighting courses through my veins, leaving the metallic taste of adrenalin on my tongue. Do I dare open my eyes?
