I am a motherless daughter.. Top Story - November 2021.
My mother is alive, living out her life as an alcoholic and drug addict in her mid-50s. She has been an addict since she was in the 10th grade when she dropped out. She had been drinking hard liquor and taking hard drugs my entire childhood into adolescence. I only ever remember her on something. That was my last memory of her, up until she kicked me out and changed the house locks while I was 16 and pregnant.

Attending my parents' funeral.
The air is suffocating. You choke up at all the memories flashing through your mind. The good, the bad, and the ugly. You think of all the things should have, could have, and would have said. You remember your childhood. Your mother or father's laugh. The way they smelled. The facial expressions they made when they were happy. Sad. Even the way it felt to be hugged. Your teen years. You remember that you are now in your twenties.

Hello. I am so glad you are here. I have something POTENT to say about healing from trauma. What I have discovered is that we are all just onions and our traumas are buried deep beneath the layers of who we 'think' we are.
