The Baddies Brunch Club
Saturday, November 16th, I’ve had the pleasure of writing about The Baddies Brunch Club. The brunch club consists of 19 women from all over the NWI (Northwest Indiana) area. The group of women come together for networking, social events, and mental health retreats and talk empowerment over brunch (breakfast & lunch). The club has been in fellowship since February 2023 but incorporated a year later in February 2024 with CEO/Founder Tiffany Henderson, who had a vision and made it official. The women’s goal is to collaborate with other organizations and bring positive experiences and empowerment to the community. Founder Tiffany Henderson says, “We believe that being apart of this event will illuminate who we are and what we do.”. Ms. Henderson says she was around a bunch of powerful women, and that’s what made her want to bring the brunch club together. “What made me start the brunch club? I was around a lot of powerful women, and I wanted everyone to come together and network with each other, so I said 1 day out of the month will be perfect.” The Women’s Mission is to create a positive, authentic, and empowering atmosphere where women can connect with each other and find community within their city. Ms. Henderson said, “While we are on our way to being the #1 Brunch Resource in the world, it is our heartbeat to see women walk in complete freedom, launched into their destinies and dreams, and living the most beautiful stories life has to offer (this all happens in community).”The Brunch Club believes that when a group of women come together to encourage, empower, and speak into each other’s lives, it changes lives, atmospheres, cities, and our world. " Creating community one brunch at a time." Tiffany believes that in order to build a strong nation, that’s what we need—sister circles and other strong communities. Baddies Brunch Club is proof of what can happen when you find your people. Not only can you bond over a delicious meal, but you can also become an agent for change in your community. The Women of the Brunch Club are fantastic and showing they really care about our community and lives. They’re showing great character and showing that anything is possible when women work together. The brunch club shares a bond over the community and what they can bring to the community. I feel that the club is good for women all around the globe or in the area. These women are focused and have a vision. Get in tune with The Baddies Brunch Club!

Corrections Officer Turned Pastor.
On August 18TH I was invited to view an episode from the podcast ‘’ Consequences of Decisions Made” at Washington Street Church Of God about a corrections officer who turned Pastor Troy Johnson Shares with us how God changed his life His journey started 32 years ago (he also stated maybe it started a little farther than that). Pastor Johnson shares his trials and tribulations of being a corrections officer while also trying to be a Christian. At the same time, inmates often asked him how he was going to be a Christian and work. Johnson says the inmates would come to him, and he thanked God that he had earned the inmates trust and says he would’ve gotten fired if things had gone the other way. Pastor Johnson had lost his keys; according to him, that is the worst thing you can do as a corrections officer. While one of the prisoners returns the lost keys, they tell Pastor Johnson, “You’re lucky. I Respect You, Man." Pastor Johnson says all the years he’s been in the prison, the prisoners always knew he’d try to be fair, and that was the result of him earning the prisoners respect. Pastor Johnson states that the inmates often end up back in jail after going back to the same environment. Pastor says that the biggest things men leave behind when they go to prison are their kids and says men’s daughters will base their relationship on them (the fathers) on who they are and who they end up marrying (daughters). Pastor Johnson breaks down racism in prison, says there is racism towards the staff and the inmates, and also says racism is a big deal in prison. Pastor Johnson also points out that the inmates are very observant; he says they are watching even when you think they aren’t watching. Calle segregation and study the different types of bibles they had in the room and says that was the first time he encountered a spiritual warfare. Pastor Johnson shares that he experienced his first spiritual demonic warfare at the prison when he was called down to cell 13 and a 21-year-old man's eyes were rolled to the back of his head, and behind the man on the back of his cell read “Kill yourself tonight.” The pastor says he prayed with the young man and saw personally how the power of God works. The pastor says it was alarming to see a young man possessed like that. The pastor points out that the streets glamorize jail and says he’s talked to a lot of guys in prison and they’ve said their homies haven’t put anything on their books. Pastor said when the prisoners are in prison they get a huge eye opener. Kevin then asks Pastor Johnson, Has he ever seen a gang member go into jail under the gang influence and change and give his life to God? Pastor Johnson said yes, some of the prisoners got out and did great and went on and got great jobs, but he also said he went to a few funerals as well. Pastor Johnson says do not believe the hype about prison; it is not what it is set out to be in the streets. He says you do not need to be in prison; you need to be with your family. If you have kids, you need to be there watching them grow. Pastor Johnson also explains that he isn’t a corrections officer; he is in maintenance. Pastor ends it off by saying seek God's joy, and God has a plan for us all. Thank you for having me; it was a blessing.

Why Journalism Is Under appreciated
One of the most underrated and underappreciated professions in the world has to be journalism. Journalists don’t get acknowledged as much as other professions like sports players or rappers. While sports players engage in games, whether it be basketball or football, journalists are covering the games, the score, the team, and each team's leading players. Journalists face great risks in their line of work, such as fake news, misinformation, and information overload. Journalism comes in different forms. You have news, multimedia, and reviews while all being different; they all have an opinion through comments, posts, and tweets. Reasons why journalism is underappreciated are because we as a whole don’t read enough; as of January 2024, only 86.3% of the world reads, whether it's books, newspapers, or articles. Journalism is equally important as any of the other professions; journalists work just as hard! Journalism is important because it provides any and every type of information that can inform and help people make decisions in their everyday lives. For example, every day, the internet announces “breaking news.” It’s also important because it preserves freedom of speech. Journalists have the courage to say and write about things other people are scared of. Journalists are like a backbone to people. They help your lives daily. Social media helps journalists in so many ways, like...
