Wrestling The World Serpent
When I was around eight years old, I had an Uncle, Dolon, who my parents rarely spoke about. When they did, he seemed like a huge, larger than life-figure like Paul Bunyan. He scared me, but being the eight year old boy I was, I would never admit it even to myself.

The Last Witness. Top Story - January 2024.
I stood by the shore, watching the waves, sole witness to the End. The water lapped up against my feet, no longer boiling but still painfully hot, asking a silent question I did not answer. I did not move. The water receded, dragging with it sand, shells, ash, and bone.

Gotham Knights is Pretty Good, and Here's Why
DISCLAIMER: This game does not make you feel like Batman, nor do I think that is a good way to describe any video game. Being Batman feels like repeated physical and mental trauma, not pressing buttons on an X-Box controller.

A Sunday Stroll
Hatham thought he must be the only man in town to notice the streets grew emptier each day. As he walked along, his grandson’s hand in his, he did not wonder why. He already knew. It was the way of things: kids grew up and left the nest, running off to the city to live in luxury. His own daughter had married local; he’d always regretted that for her. She should have moved off somewhere. Kingsport, or Roanoke. Or even Wytheville would have been enough. This town had no future, and Hatham would know.

Launch Order
As she walked the shore for the twelfth time that night, she could see two things off in the distance, almost on the horizon: the Mountain, and the City. In the Ocean between, she knew, the navy was making its way to the Mountain, or maybe they’d arrived by now. Though miles distant, the City shone with colour, brighter than the full moon. If she squinted, she could make out the individual megabuilding, each towering miles high. She wondered how many people were left there. Not many, hopefully. The bombs above and below the city were armed and ready to detonate at the press of a button she hoped she’d never be ordered to do. But even if the City were evacuated, where would the refugees settle? Besides the Mountain where even now the legions were engaged in a last-ditch effort to save them all, she didn’t know of any land within a few thousand miles in any direction. Even this beach she now walked was little more than a rocky sandbar against a barren rock they’d elected to build their base in. she glanced behind, at the sheer rock wall and its small metal door. She didn’t want to return inside. The sun was rising now. If the legions failed, this would be the last time.

Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance is the Worst Game of 2021
Last year, we saw two of the most disappointing video game launches in history. And since then, Cyberpunk 2077 has mostly been fixed, to the point where I would recommend it as a good 30-40 dollar game. Marvel’s Avengers, on the other hand, is still a massive pile of dogshit.

The Shore Is Terrible And Here's Why
The Shore was a much-anticipated(in certain circles) Lovecraftian horror game that I first heard mention of on Itch.io back in early 2020. My early glimpses of it back then made it seem like a walking simulator, like Dear Esther meets Dagon, more or less. It looked really cool. Unfortunately, it turned out to be really bad.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Xenoblade Chronicles on the Nintendo Wii was one of my all time favorite games, probably in my top three, even. I couldn't wait for a sequel, but unfortunately I was among the 7.7 billion people to not get a Wii U, and so I missed out on Xenoblade Chronicles X. But then I got a Switch in 2017, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was the first game I bought, alongside Breath of the Wild. And it was... alright. I returned it a few months later because frankly I just wasn't that into it. And then three years later, the Xenoblade Remaster came to the Switch and I played that all summer. And I thought, maybe I should give 2 another chance. So I did, and it's been a trip. Here are my thoughts. There will be spoilers.

Why Are The Republicans Trying to Blame Antifa(Again)?
We all know what happened on January 6th. I don't feel like I need to lay it all out for you for the billionth time. But I definitely want to, so... On January 6th, the day after Georgia's special election and the day of Congress' certification of Joe Biden's presidential win, hundreds or thousands of Donald Trump's supporters gathered in Washington DC to protest Trump's loss. The Capitol police opened the doors for the protesters, and they quickly rioted and invaded the Capitol Building. Congress evacuated to safety, but the insurrectionists broke into their offices, their gathering spaces, and went wild. At least five died, including two cops, and on that day, maybe 13 arrests were made, although a few more were made in the following days.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Back in 2018, we finally got a new, good, Spider-Man game from Insomniac Games, exclusive to the PS4. It had crisp, clean and satisfying combat, a fantastically personal story, and most importantly: web-swinging was fun again! We also got some promising, but not fully realized stealth sections, and several levels have you playing as Mary Jane, or a pre-spider-bite Miles Morales. While those sections may have been polarizing, I personally enjoyed them as character-driven subplots if not as riveting gameplay.
