Subject Matter- Mental Illness, PMDD, and Chronic Illness: It is exactly 12:34PM which is such a cute time! I made into work exactly 2 hours late and am finally feeling like 75% of myself. No one was mad so that's good. It sucks because PMDD always steals a good week or two from my life and yet so many people weaponize it and/or ignore it as anything real. I am officially back on a Monday after a grueling PMDD episode that made me feel like a metaphoric worthless worm. I feel the need to add that this metaphor is so unfair to worms considering how necessary and helpful they actually are....but I digress.

Dear June Self, I know you dream of taking your dogs to the park and drinking in the sun without a care in the world. I know you dream of losing yourself in a canvas dumping all the feels and ideas that are stuck inside of you with no other way to escape. You dream of creating art with the people that make your heart feel at ease. I know you dream of cleaning and organizing your space to be a delightful and serene sanctuary for days that aren't so easy. I know these dreams turn into desperation and despair knowing how far away the gentleness of life is.

Book Review- Black Ivy: A Revolt in Fashion
There is often an erasure and silencing of Black culture influence in main historical narratives. Black Ivy: A Revolt in Style aims to challenge this in the fashion industry by honoring the impact of Black culture on the Ivy style. It’s a story about freedom, civil rights, and reinvention. Jason Jules and Graham Marsh takes us through the Civil Rights Movement through the influence of Black art in the fifties and sixties. This work highlights the transformation of clothing upheld by the white-privileged elite, making it cool and definitely their own. Like most narratives of the past, this is an untold story that is often silenced.

Michael Zakim navigates the early days of the American Democratic experiment and the ways in which fashion companies like Brooks Brothers created a new concept of what citizenship could look like. He uses the production, marketing, and consumption of clothing as a lens through which to reframe and synthesize the first century of democracy and capitalism in the United States. Zakim aims to explore “how capitalist revolution came to America under the guise of traditional notions of industry, modesty, economy, and independence” (p. 2) and transformed fashion into a “paradigm of liberal governance” (p. 3).

Rich, Pretty, Lonely: A Film Review
I 100% recommend this movie. I don't love rating movies all that much, maybe one day. But I will compare it to like Zoe's Extraordinary Playlist...without the music? meets Ingrid Goes West without the whole thriller, creepy, obsession aspect. If that's confusing...just keep reading and hopefully you get it by the end.

Going Through It
I am currently entering into the last 6 months of my 20's. For me it was hell. Confronting loss of people who were supposed to be there for my whole life, experiencing the most painful financial stress, violation of my soul, body, and spirit, friendship breakups, humiliation, the realization I was in here for the long haul (even though I was flooded with life is short monologues), and feeling absolutely lost.

A Reigning Music Industry Conspiracy: Meet Rain Man
A few days ago I was casually scrolling through TikTok, when my sister sent me a random conspiracy from a page about music theories and jokingly messaged “I am not saying we should sell our souls but I am not saying we shouldn’t either." For context…we are working on a really awesome art project right now and need funding, sooo that’s where that comes from. My ears immediately perked up because I love Rihanna and they were breaking down why they thought she sold her soul to this demonic entity, Rain Man.
