The Legend of Hot Dog Tommy
The Legend of Hot Dog Tommy I was hiding in my room in the tight corner of my bed, under all the blankets I could find. With the long skinny pillow layering the front of my body, I almost felt safe. My door was locked. Someone flicked the hallway light switch off and only the radiance of moonlight filtered in through the window, throwing a thin glow over my Peter Maxx posters. My room was deceptively bright and happy.

Kindergarten Garbage Sans Kitten
I went to morning kindergarten when I was four. I was one of those late birthday kids who got in just under the wire. I brought with me my huge imagination and my giant lack of social skills around other children. My teacher, Ms. Susan, was an extremely sweet lady who could play the piano. I lucked out in that she totally knew what she was getting herself into with me.

Everyone Loves Hot Dogs
My stepdad John was a Hungarian trucker. His CB handle was “The Happy Hunky” and he was a pretty amazing guy. He loved my mom. She did not have to work so he encouraged her to make friends and be artsy. She pursued ceramics and macramé and painting. When we moved into his house, he asked her to make it a showplace and redecorate. And she did! She reupholstered sofas and stained cabinets and laid new flooring. She thrived and she was happy.
