Calm, Cool, and Protective
In my opinion, what might be the most accurate way to determine your true self is to observe how you react in either high stress, dangerous, surprising, or simply unexpected situations. In these times, we have no time to think or try to pretend, we can only react instinctually. And, in my opinion, these are the times to take note of. They show us a side of ourselves or someone else we may never have noticed or thought possible. Our instincts can be very telling, which is why I find it an interesting way to know more about a person. In this, I will actually speak of two separate occasions that incited the same instinctual reaction from me.

My Furever Baby
Let me just start by saying I am no stranger to pets. Growing up, my father always had a string of animals going through our house. We went through so many dogs it was insane. But he was never satisfied with only dogs. We had cats, iguanas, rabbits, birds, snakes, hamsters, turtles, and fish. We were very lucky children to be surrounded by so many different kinds of animals. It was amazing growing up the way I did, and it fed my love of animals today.

Our Homemade Horror Turned Comedy
So, it all started with a vacation trip. My mother and her husband rented out this small island (No, they're not super rich or something. We live in florida, many renting opportunities). I was allowed to bring a friend, and I chose my childhood friend since second grade, Kaileah. I believe we had just graduated high school at this point. We were initially excited, because... well, the obvious! An island all to ourselves! It sounds exciting and fun. It was only a couple hours drive away. We didn't know what to expect but we figured it was going to be awesome!

Mad Dash For Safety
I was running, fast and quietly. I had finally managed to escape my prison of a room. Despite my freedom, I knew I could very well get caught at any moment. I only escaped level one of freedom. I still needed to find a way out of this maze of a hallway without being noticed and somehow get out of this more than likely locked down building. And then… I wasn’t sure. I didn’t know where I was in the outside world. I could be on an island for all I knew, which would make escape impossible. But I had to try. I just had to keep running. It took me six months to escape my freaking bedroom. I couldn’t afford to get caught and potentially take another six months to start my escape again.

The Ghost Barn
ISABELL What am I doing? No, truly, what was I thinking agreeing to meet my crush at this old, abandoned barn house? I must be smoking rocks to have actually come too. And now, I must be suicidal, because I'm still walking towards this barn like it doesn’t resemble a possible crack house or a mass murderers hidey-hole. Jackson was cute, but not this cute.

Peace In Fantasy
What gives me inner peace and helps the rest of the world disappear isn’t always the same craft, activity, or action. Some things come and go constantly or always stay. Others come and go and might never come back. I find that to be quite normal considering how large the world is and all the different things we have yet to discover and enjoy. Not all activities offer the same peace, but they brought me a moment of happiness all the same.

When It's Useful
It's been six years now. Or roughly six years, considering no ones making any new calendars and it’s a bit difficult to keep track of time when the worlds ended and you're trying to survive. It’s been a long six years though. Long, hard, and painful six years.
