Jakuchō and the Valley

There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. Actually there had been dragons in the valley for generations (and indeed throughout the country) but only as engravings on the temple and shrine walls, as guardians at the wells where pilgrims cleansed their hands and mouths before prayers.
