Early Life: A Childhood of Adversity Born in 1980 in the Bronx, New York, Liz Murray grew up in an environment few children could imagine—one defined by chaos, addiction, and constant instability. Her parents were both highly intelligent but tragically addicted to drugs. They spent most of their limited income on their next fix, leaving Liz and her older sister to survive with very little. At times, Liz would return from school to find no food in the fridge, the electricity cut off, or her parents too high to notice she was even home.

Is It Just Friendship, or Am I Losing Him?
My husband and I have been together for 12 years—married for 9. We have two wonderful daughters, ages 7 and 4. He’s always been a loving partner and an incredible father. He teaches at an elementary school, and his passion for education is one of the things I’ve always admired about him. He has this calm, kind way with people, especially kids—and that same kindness has made him well-loved among his colleagues.

We have a three-year-old son. He’s bright, full of energy, and the sweetest little soul. I love him more than I ever thought possible. But the early days of his life weren’t how I imagined they’d be. In fact, looking back, they feel like a foggy dream I barely lived through.
