Honeymoon for One
It didn’t have to be this way! Over and over, my mind screamed the words as I fought my way through the thicket. Sweat poured into my eyes, and covered my body in a clammy, sticky film. The dirt clung to my skin. I could see my breath as it ran away from me. Laboriously, I dragged my burden over the brambles once in a while, cutting myself on a branch or a barb. The weight that I’d effortlessly carried across the threshold of our home not so long ago was substantially harder to navigate in its current state. And I realized how much you’d carried me, in the beginning. How much lighter you always made things.

Chocolate Cake for everyone! (Except Toby)
MONDAY: Michael Scott sat behind his desk, addressing the documentary camera crew. "Corporate wanted us to come up with a promotion to run at each branch. David Wallace made suggestions like 10% off on prepaid orders, 20% off for referrals that place their first order...yawn! No heart, no creativity. But recently, I saw a movie, called Matilda. Starring Danny Devito. And, it's about a little girl, with a bad family, a bad principal. Basically everyone is just really terrible to her, it's probably the way Toby grew up, honestly. But then, she meets this teacher, Miss Honey, and she's very nice. She reminds me of what my future wife will be like to our children. Anyway, she finds that she has teleportation powers, and she does all this amazing stuff. Really, back in the day, she would have been tried as a witch, but now, she is celebrated. They made a movie about her. Progress."

Brainerd Below Zero
Though I've always appreciated the allure of the nature in and around Brainerd, it's easy to become desensitized to it's abundance. Born, raised, and currently residing in the central Minnesota lake town, the places I've chosen to highlight here have been engraved in my mind. They are as much a part of me as the people I love. It may sound like an exaggeration, but if you've lived in a community like this, I am sure you can relate. Like anywhere else, we have our faults, but in true Minnesota-nice fashion, I'm going to share the things I love about my hometown. The sights, sounds, and even the chilling arctic cold are home to me.

The Agency
It's strange how a little thing can alter one's entire life. Missing a flight, arriving early to work, spilling your coffee, or checking the mail. As a detective, I've seen first-hand the all too real consequences to seemingly mundane events. It should be of little surprise that one such event changed everything for me, but some things surprise even the most astute observers.
