Calypso by David Sedaris
I'm having a really hard time starting this review. I do not enjoy writing bad reviews. I love books, I love to praise authors and look for the importance of a story, even if it isn't a five-star read for me. I purchased Calypso because I had heard good things about the writing style and humor in all of David Sedaris' work. As of right now, I'm not a fan and I don't know that I will ever read another of his books.

The Art of Amnesia
In a rectangular chair with boxy wooden arms pressing uncomfortably into my ribcage, my entire body sinks with exhaustion. The room is flooded with aggressive fluorescent light and I rest my forehead in my palm to spare my eyes the relentless attack. I keep one leg crossed over the other so I can bounce one foot in the air; the only physical release of my frustration and concern.

"Outlawed" by Anna North - Review
I grew up in the deserts of Arizona, dreaming every night of running wild on horseback with a gang of my dustiest, rowdiest friends. As a young girl, I actually enjoyed watching old western movies. My grandfather even supplied many of the horses and wagons used in the 1985 film, "Lonesome Dove". Professional cowgirls and cowboys were my heroes, horses were my best friends, and the "western lifestyle" of campfires and coyotes howling under a star-lit sky at night was my lifestyle.

"Group: How One Therapist and a Circle of Strangers Saved My Life"
I'll start by saying, I was shocked at how much I was able to relate to this story, having never partaken of group style therapy myself. What made this story so relatable for me were the overarching issues which sent Christie to therapy in the first place: an overwhelming sense of loneliness beginning at a young age, an eating disorder, a dysfunctional family dynamic, being sexually assaulted. I personally relate to each of these topics in some way.
