The Magical Gaze of RIVER PHOENIX
Nowadays it is probably the name Joaquin Phoenix that rings more bells, but back in the 80s and early 90s, it was his older brother River Phoenix who rose to fame as one one of the most aspiring actors of his generation. His performances in Stand by me, Running on Empty and My Own Private Idaho established him as one of the best of his generation, yet his precious life was cut short, when he tragically passed away on this day, 27 years ago, at the age of 23. MARGOT ROBBITE: Thirty and thriving
I was about 17 when I went through this period where I was obsessed with Australian TV. I would watch Neighbours and Home & Away all the time. Around that time the trailer for the new Martin Scorsese film The Wolf of Wall Street came out. There was this actress I recognised, I just couldn’t find out where I knew her from. And then it hit me! I was Donna from Neighbours! Ever since I would go and see everything this woman was in; she became my idol, my inspiration, my motivation to work on my craft and a living proof that no matter how humble your beginnings are, you can achieve anything with discipline and hard work.

CLINT EASTWOOD: 90 years of one of the greatest filmmakers of all time
He an actor, a director, a composer, a musician, a politician… It seems like there is nothing he is not good at, nor is he afraid of trying anything new. Today marks 90 years since one of the greatest filmmakers of all time was born and in honour of his birthday, here are some of my favourite movies of his. And I have to say, it has been really hard to narrow them down; I mean the man has 71 acting, 50 producing, 41 directing, 32 soundtrack and 9 composing credits to his name! It is impossible to get through them all, let alone narrow them down to your favourites.

QUARENTINE FEEL GOOD MOVIES
Easy A (2010) Directed by Will Gluck and starring Emma Stone, Easy A is comedy film about Olive Penderghast, a 17-year old girl from Ojai in California. Olive is a girl that usually keeps to herself and sometimes feels pretty invisible to everyone around her. Yet this quickly changes, when a false rumour spreads that she has lost her virginity to a college student friend of her brothers, and overnight Olive becomes the central subject of school’s gossips. Olive decides to put her notoriety to good use, yet eventually Olive’s life gets out of hand and Olive decides to put an end to it (which appears to be easier said than done) and what better way to do that than via Webcam.
