NOTHING SO POWERFUL
A lone pear tree adorned Melissa's families backyard amongst the other usual suburban vegetation. Melissa had always loved this place. To most it was just a regular pear tree. To Melissa, it was where her adventures always began. With sly, exaggerated movement only an eight year old could muster, she looked side to side, ensuring daddy and mummy weren't watching before plonking down on the cold soil. Knocking twice on the base of the tree, the world exploded.

A Puffin's Love
Gavin's mind wandered while the others milled about. They would glance up to him from time to time but he paid them no heed. Even though his poor vision made it hard to see them clearly, those glances had been a part of his life for as long as he could remember. A mix of awe, admiration, lust and envy. They would gaze in wonder at his beauty and splendour. None were as beautiful as Gavin. Everyone knew that, none more-so than Gavin himself.

Whisper's Folly
Whisper was so close. The undergrowth, dense with years of vines and dirt was slowly giving way to her relentless determination. She knew that beneath this unremarkable place would be a chamber and inside, her prize. For the first time in as long as Whisper could remember, she let herself reflect on the difficult, unpleasant road that had led her to this moment. Her mind drifted as she worked her way towards her salvation.
