Lost on Father's Day
It was getting dark on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, and Nate was nowhere to be found. He had survival gear in his pack, but the disturbing fact was that he had separated from the group. He was an inexperienced backpacker, only having packed overnight a handful of times. Plus, he was disoriented from the drugs he was taking for stage-four Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Steve
My wife’s brother Steve lives in a scenic mountain town where people go on vacation. It’s a world-renowned destination for adventurous souls. People work their whole lives to be able to live there. Steve lives there. He’s part of a close-knit community mostly separate from the tourists who visit. He also has schizophrenia, but he’s on the miracle drug.

The Owl and the Wiseman
The wolf moon had finally set when my brother and I took off on our great adventure; to visit the sacred stone of Shamawindu. The large monolith was tall and upright on a ridge in the Shandu Mountains. Shamawindu, the legendary wise man who told of things that couldn’t be known, was one of the few to escape during the storied ancient attacks, and vanished into the mountains.
