A Fine Romance
Tommy chuckled to himself as he copied the witness statement into his notebook. Pure gold, every word of it. Names and locations would be changed, obviously, but the rest was going in. The woman must have been a poet in a former life. A born raconteur, despite her limited and colourful vocabulary. Vivid and visceral, her description of the brawling prostitutes read like Hemingway.

2010 – The Year We Went ‘All Out’ On The Christmas Card I’ve never really been bothered about Christmas cards. Even as a small boy I used to wonder why people bothered. I grew older, and more self-conscious, until eventually I was too cool for Christmas. Presents were still distributed amongst my nearest and dearest, obviously. But as my teens turned to twenties, the holiday season became nothing more than an excuse for a couple of good boozy nights out. Beyond that, I was 24 karat humbug.
