Princess and the Pea
I had been in search of a true princess for some time now. Some women would practically throw themselves at me, pretending to be a princess or a daughter of someone in high standing. I would like to think I received all of this attention based on my charm and good looks but I knew that they were mostly looking for money. Most had no class and no real dowry to speak of. I realize how shallow that sounds but it was the world I lived in. After my older brother made the mistake of falling prey to one of these gold diggers, I knew it was best to be cautious. Also, my parents made sure of it.

Beauty and the Beast
I found myself on a carriage ride under very strange circumstances. My father had done something to anger Prince Adam, whom I had never heard of, enough to want to kill him. Since I was not yet married, my father bartered me to save his own skin. Of course I was not consulted, only given a choice. Not that it was much of a choice. It was either live on the street or in a castle with a prince. My choice seemed quite clear. As long as he wasn’t mean and ugly, how bad could it be?

The year Santa Came Twice
This is a story based on a Christmas card I gave my spouse. (Words from the card are in italics.) Twas the night before Christmas as I lie on the couch, snuggled under my blanket waiting for Santa to arrive. As my eyes slowly began to drift closed, I was startled by a creek in the floorboards. I opened my eyes to see Santa filling my stocking. With coal no doubt. I had been a rather naughty girl this year but I had been waiting for him this night to prove how good I could be.

The Snow Queen
Winter had lasted for ages. The Snow Queen resided in her castle and was unseen all but one day a year. This was when she would select a man from the village to live with her in her ice castle. She promised the villagers that, if they did this, she would not destroy the village. Each year, the previous man was returned unharmed but with no recollection of the time spent with The Snow Queen. Over the years, the people of the village had resisted this demand, attempting to kill her any way that they could. Each attempt was unsuccessful and only resulted in death for those who opposed her. Her magic was too powerful and to resist was futile.

Peter+Wendy
I watched him from the sandy shoreline as he flitted from one stone to the next. All the mermaids laughed and cooed, encouraging his childish behavior. As much as I fancied the idea of mermaids, these all had vile personalities. That is, unless you were Peter. He reveled in the attention and visited the lagoon often to receive it. Though the mermaids did not care for me, which was fine because the feeling was mutual, I still came to the lagoon to watch them. They truly were beautiful. They would sunbathe on the rocks that poked above the water line at the far end of the lagoon. I would watch them brush their long, silky hair and listen to them sing with their angelic voices. I guess I was jealous. They were just so perfect. How did their hair never look matted from the salty water? How did their seashells cover their perfect breasts and not fall off? Seriously, nothing holds them on.

Wedding Rendezvous
-Naomi- Rachel had been my best friend for as long as I could remember. She lived next door when we were kids and we even roomed together in college. So it was no surprise when she asked me to be her bridesmaid. I was actually relieved to hear that it was some sort of a family tradition to have the sister be the maid of honor. A maid of honor was expected to give a speech and that was not my cup of tea, especially not in front of that many people. Her husband to be, John, was the son of an oil tycoon, which meant that this would be a very big and elaborate wedding.

The Seduction of Oz
My day was not going well. I accidentally killed some woman I had never met and stole her shoes. Well, in all fairness she didn’t need them anymore and they were too cute to just leave there. I was caught red handed but to my surprise this led to a town wide party. I thought I was in the clear, things were looking up. Then her sister or something showed up and threatened me and my poor little dog too. It was an accident. Everyone else seemed happy, not sure what her problem was. It was a real roller coaster ride in this bizarre place and I just wanted to go home. The strange circumstances of my arrival meant that getting home would not be that easy. I was told to follow a yellow brick road that would lead me to a place called the Emerald City. Once there, some dude everyone called ‘The Wizard’ would be the only one who could help me. Considering the threat to my life, I thought maybe someone might escort me there. But apparently that was too tall of an order.

Chills
I wake with a slight chill, my bare skin covered in goosebumps. My eyes blink desperately to focus in the dim, moon lit room. Still groggy, my hand searches the bed for the covers. As I feel my way around they meet the soft warm skin of my wife and I caress her gently. She is sleeping soundly on her side, facing away from me, and I do not want to wake her. Gently I roll to my side so that I can snuggle in close so I can spoon her. My cool skin meets the warmth of her elegant curves and I realize she is completely naked.

A Welcome Guest
-Amy- My husband's best friend from college, Jake, was coming down for their high school reunion and he was staying with us for a few days. Andy and Jake were almost inseparable in college and I always got along with him really well. It helped that he was hot and extremely charming. I always felt a little guilty flirting with him but Andy never seemed to mind, he even encouraged it on occasion. Besides that, Andy and I were perfect for each other, we were best friends and nothing could come between us.
