Review of ' Face the Night'
Western and fantasy: I now know books encompassing both exist, but it doesn’t feel like it would be something I would read. Now, Face the Night delivered in ways I didn’t imagine I would enjoy, and I think the core of that has to go with Forbes’ storytelling.

Sophmoronic: Chapter One
Lucita sat in her mother’s car as they went to school. In the passenger side mirror, she caught her reflection. Her eyes were heavily lined in black eyeliner. Her mother had told her not to wear so much muck on her face, but Lucita didn’t care, and her mother had just sighed and let her be and even fixed it, smudging the side of the eyelid to repair her flare. Lucita looked over at her mother, who smiled at her sweetly. Smiling back briefly, she turned to look back at her reflection. She was tired, having arrived the night before last from Chicago; she was more than just physically exhausted. Her trip had been emotionally exhausting, as she had to deal with her stupid family.

Review of 'Ever Since'
Moving and powerful, Ever Since is not the typical novel I would pick up. However, I’m so thankful that I did; even as challenging as some scenes were, this novel is about solidarity and survival, the lasting marks trauma leaves on the victims, and how they can overcome it.

New Girl: Chapter Thirty-Two
Lucita finished her English final easily and quickly. So did Lucas, she noticed as she stared at him. He smiled at her before he turned in his test, and it took all her restraint to not jump up and kiss him. Unfortunately, she would have to wait until the end of the class period or until everyone turned in their test before she could do that.

New Girl: Chapter Thirty
Lucita wasn’t thrilled that Mother’s Day was fast approaching. She sat outside trying to read, or at least trying to. She couldn’t focus. Her mind felt out of it. Her body ached. A terrifying thought brushed across her thoughts, and she pushed it away, trying very hard not to think about it.

New Girl: Chapter Twenty-Nine
Rebecca was lying on the cold tile floor, staring at her smooth white ceiling. She kept thinking about Blake. The look he had given her that say in class was unlike any look he had ever given her. Some guilt was eating her away, though. She had no idea what to do. Blake had been a total jerk to Silvia and then had done something to Lucita. She still couldn’t fight the thought that drifted into her mind.
