7 Things You Should Do Immediately Each Morning
Morning is chaos. The sun that enters your room might as well be an airhorn. It’s jarring. I know how brutal it can be… waking up, that is. But stress no longer. I’ve done my research. It’s backed up by science. Real science. I didn’t necessarily get it from a scholarly journal though. Nor a book. Nor a doctor. Instead, I got it from my guy, Rex, who crafted my Turkey Sub on Wheat earlier. He seemed wise beyond his years. And I trust Rex like I trust my gynecologist. After all, what he said was probably backed up by science!

A Surprising Tactic from My Psychologist That Changed How I Sleep
One of my current goals is to, at least four times a week, close my eyes with eight hours and 40 minutes until my alarm is set to go off. It’s formatted that way because I can’t control how much sleep I actually get. What I can control though is when I power down. Just because it’s set up that way though doesn’t mean I enjoy tossing and turning all night.

Six Signs of a Highly Unproductive Person
Before embarking on any venture that involves more than one person, knowing how productive they are is invaluable. Whether that be a business partnership, new collaboration, or a simple meeting, it is to your benefit to recognize their productivity levels ahead of time. Otherwise, you may be stuck carrying the bulk of the workload. As you navigate through your side of the deal, they’ll still be crawling through the initial stages. As you give them updates as to your progress, you’ll have to hound them to provide the most basic of communications.

The 1 Goal That Helps Me (Routinely) Get 8 Hours of Sleep
It’s not that I enjoy staying up late. Often, whatever I’m watching is boring and I’ve long since run out of things to scroll through. I’m not having fun laying on the couch with eyes half-open, mouth agape. It’s just that… well… after a long day, the last thing I want to do is stand up and put in more effort. Even if that effort is as minor as taking out my contacts or brushing my teeth. It’s too much.

How to Become a Habitual Smoker
This is the year. It’s finally going to stick. You walk into the kitchen. Your spouse sits at the table, drinking coffee. Steam rises from the cup. “Hey… can we talk?” you ask nervously. “Sure. What’s up?” she replies. “Look. I know I’ve tried in the past. I know I’ve come up empty. But I’m determined to make it work. And I want your support,” you say. “Ugh… not this again,” she says, throwing her hands up.

How I Used Slow Growth to Complete a 48-Hour Fast
*I’m not a doctor. Nothing I mention here is medical advice.* I was on hour 47 of what was to be a 48-hour fast. And I was fine. Not just fine, but perfectly content. My hunger pangs were minor and I felt good. In fact, I heavily debated extending the fast out another day just for fun. Not wanting to let our groceries go to waste though, I decided to stop at 48 hours. There would surely be opportunities for longer fasts in the future.

The One Meeting I Always Say Yes To
I logged onto Zoom and patiently waited for the meeting to begin. Ring lights turned bright, glasses on, hair checked, I felt excitement underneath my calm facade. And then, the call started. What came next was an in-depth discussion of business tactics, book recommendations, and life lessons. Oh and we even recorded a podcast episode during it as well. This was my kind of meeting.

3 Goal-Setting Tips I *Didn’t* Learn from Star Wars
I haven’t watched The Mandorlian, ok? Neither the first or second season. I don’t have Disney+. And I certainly didn’t purchase Disney+ with the sole intention of watching The Mandalorian. I have better things to do with my time, ok? So just accept that at face value and move on. That said, though I haven’t watched The Mandalorian and have no plans to, one could assume that a clear story arc is visible. Not that I would ever care about such things, but for sake of argument, let’s just say that I did.

Using Self-Talk to Do What Others Deem “Impossible”
I was drastically unprepared. The hot summer sun beat down on me as I made my way up the street. And though its incline was gradual, its effect on me was immense. Looking around for shade, I saw nothing but cars driving past. Cars with drivers likely thinking, That poor guy. He’s melting out there. Why would anyone run on a day like today? The sad part was, I was only about a quarter of the way there. To my final destination. To my endpoint.

How I Relax Despite Constant-Doing Syndrome
Constant-doing syndrome is a need to be constantly doing something. It’s not a real medical term, but it is a real trait that I have. Instead of winding down at night, you can find me unloading the dishwasher, organizing notes from a book I recently finished, or researching swim schools for my daughter. Downtime does not exist for me, despite my best efforts.

Consistency Gives Me Room to Be Bad
Since January, I’ve published 72 articles to my blog. That’s nearly one a day, five days a week, for almost five months. And I have no intention of stopping. Writing is one of my current goals. Specifically, it’s to: publish one new post per day, five days a week with a word count of at least 500, but no more than 2,500. It didn’t seem like much at first, my writing goal, but the days added up and now here we are. At 72 going on 73.
