Let's Get Dangerous! (Week 13)
Well, ladies and gentlemen, we are here. We have arrived. The first 12 weeks were insane, wild, crazy, and chaotic, but we have now made it to the final one-third of the season. Thanksgiving always kicks off that home stretch in the NFL season, as the holiday begins the league's last stop before it enters the pivotal month of December. This is my fifth year covering the NFL playoff races in this manner on Vocal, and it's also the fifth year of the NFL's current 18-week regular season.

It's the Wood That Makes it Good
After a very successful and dominant homestand, the Colorado Avalanche hit the road for back-to-back games within the Central Division. First up, the Nashville Predators--first meeting of the season between the two clubs. I'm still amazed over the Preds winning in signing players last year. Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault joining the team? To go with Roman Josi and Filip Forsberg? I immediately had the Preds being a strong force that the Avs had to deal with... and then last year happened.

NFL Week 12 Recap: Overtime, Comebacks, and an Elimination
One thing I've learned years ago is that there is always something extra special about that last week before Thanksgiving. In the NFL, Thanksgiving marks the beginning of playoff talks becoming the most serious, but that last week before the holiday seems to bring out the wildest moments. This season's Week 12 was no exception.

"Beyond the Gates" Weeks 32-37 Recap
It's been a minute since I've recapped this daytime phenomenon known as Beyond the Gates. I've been so deliriously happy with what's been going on in the sports world. A wild World Series that not only went seven games, but the finale went to extra innings. The Packers off to a good start, and my many fantasy teams having good years. Even the Chicago Bulls are doing well so far! And then there's the Colorado Avalanche. My goodness, I could write a book on how epic our magnificent start is!

Lions & Packers & Bears, Oh My!
This whole season has been insane, wild, and absolutely on all sorts of drugs. We've seen about a thousand things happen during the first 12 weeks of this campaign, and part of the madness includes the NFC North. Thankfully, this year has been better for me as a Packers fan than last year was, as while last year saw us with a good enough record to possibly win the division, there were two other teams in Thanos mode. Yikes.

Rocky Mountain Flex
The Colorado Avalanche kicked of a four game homestand with a nationally televised victory over the Pacific-leading Anaheim Ducks. That's one down, but three home games remain in this stretch. The Avs have been on a huge roll all year, with no signs of slowing down. This Avs fan is giddy as hell. We have been playing so well entering the remainder of our homestand, but even so, a lot can happen in three games.

Villainess Blown Opportunity: Judith Hoag's Rita vs. Megan Fox's April O'Neil (TMNT: Out of the Shadows)
I just want to clairify something here. I've been writing a few "Villainess Blown Opportunity" pieces recently, but I assure you, my intentions are genial. When I write these, it's not out of any disrespect to whatever show or film is the subject. This is not me immensely criticizing the project. Rather, it's just an idea or a suggestion from someone who's been a fan of villainesses since age 8, and has a big imagination. A lot of the shows or films that serve as the subject still have my adoration regardless, but if I believe that there was an opportunity for a villainess to take the spotlight, I'll definitely point it out.

112th Grey Cup Playoffs: Division Finals Recap
I've said this many times before, but I do love the last round before the final round in any sport, because when it gets to that round, things have become very real. In the NHL and NBA, it's the conference finals. In MLB, it's the League Championship Series. In the NFL, it's the Conference Championship, but north of the border in the Canadian Football League, it's the Division Finals. This year's Division Finals was interesting. Three of the four teams had long droughts and were looking to end them. A trip to Winnipeg was on the line for all four teams, and here's what took pace on Division Finals Saturday:

Villainess Blown Opportunity: Louise Rodanthe Should Have Become a Werewolf (Moon of the Wolf)
When it comes to villainesses, I'm always thinking. I think of the ones I see, the ones I hope to see, and especially the ones we should have seen. Whether it's different characters or portrayed heroines who had the opportunity to cross that line and become villainesses, I'm always thinking that we could have seen some deliciously evil women in certain settings. I've written about a few blown opportunities here on Vocal, and number of them on Reddit, and I do have some others in mind. One such idea was one I wrote on Reddit a year and half ago, and it centers on the 1972 horror film, Moon of the Wolf.

3rd Time's the Charm
Who here had Tuesday's battle between the Colorado Avalanche and the Anaheim Ducks as a battle between first place teams? The Avs leading the Central this early is no shock; a lot of the players on this team have "been there, done that" for the last few years. The Ducks, however, are another story. Anaheim hasn't experienced the playoffs since 2018. Think about how long ago that was. The Vegas Golden Knights debuted that year, and the Avs reached the playoffs in Game 82, starting our current playoff streak. Yet lo and behold, here are the Ducks, sitting on top of the Pacific Division.
