What Went Wrong: Les Habitants Ousted in Five
On the eleventh day of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, we finally saw an elimination, and it was the New Jersey Devils who were eliminated on Tuesday by the Carolina Hurricanes. One elimination down, 14 more to go. So who would be #2? Maybe I should just give it away and say "deux." Game Five saw the Montréal Canadiens back in DC looking to extend their series against the Washington Capitals. When this series matchup was made, my mind shifted back to 2010. We all remember that year. Caps were the Presidents' Trophy winners, and the Habs were pretty much "also rans." Yet Montréal took out Washington in seven games and went on a wild and long run.

Stating the Obvious: The NBA Playoffs Severely Lack Parity
Yesterday marked four years that I've been writing on Vocal. I've written over 1600 stories, and I've written a lot of sports stories. Those who really know my writing notice that while I write about the NFL, NHL, MLB, and even the CFL, I don't really mention the NBA a lot. If you take away the NBA Finals game recaps I write, I almost never write about the NBA. There's a reason: the NBA isn't as exciting as it was when I was a kid, and that has a lot to do with the fact that there is next to no parity in the Association.

What Went Wrong: Devils are 1st Team Out, but Made it Interesting
You know, what I'm about to say can be saved for another story, but as I watched the manic playoff action from both the NHL and NBA, it hit me. Both leagues' playoffs started on the same day, and this was Day 11. The NBA already had four eliminations, but at the time, the NHL, no eliminations yet. This was still true when the Ottawa Senators won Game Five to stay alive yet again. The New Jersey Devils were looking to do the same. They were down 3-1 in the series, but they put up three goals in the first period of Game Five against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Simpsons Review: "Krusty Gets Busted"
Today is a very cool anniversary: it's my fourth year on Vocal. I joined this amazing site on this day in 2021, and it's been so awesome so far. I've written over 1600 stories in four years, going from writing about villainesses and sports to writing fiction stories (lately involving wrestling), and several other reviews, and some tidbits about cartoons. I love Vocal so much, and here's to reaching Year Five on this site!

Never Meet Your Heroes: Lyra vs Becky at Backlash
We asked for it, we begged for it, and finally, one of the newly minted women's midcard titles will take center stage at a Premium Live Event. The Women's Intercontinental Championship will be defended at a PLE for the very first time since the title was introduced in the end of November 2024, and it will be the current and inaugural champion Lyra Valkyria defending against Becky Lynch in what should be a heated battle that went from teacher vs student in NXT, to a good vs evil, emotionally charged fight.

"Beyond the Gates" Week 8 & 9 Review
Once again, I have been lagging on recaps for this amazing soap which has really raised the bar in the soap opera genre. While I have been enjoying Beyond the Gates, and have done so since the show premiered in the tail end of February, I have also enjoyed the NBA and Stanley Cup Playoffs, and the chaos from those forums as well. That's a hell of a lot of chaos for sure!

Even now, many hours later, I'm still so over the moon over this! I said it before, and I'll say it here. The mission regarding the instillation of the Women's Intercontinental and United States Championships in the end of 2024 was to give chances to the women who were lost in the shuffle for so long. Despite WWE having a very deep women's roster, only a select view are valued when it comes to the top titles. Fans had been begging for midcard titles for the women for a long time, and we finally got them. The titles were introduced in the fall of 2024, and on Saturday Night's Main Event in December 2024, Chelsea Green became WWE's first-ever Women's United States Champion. A month later on January 13, 2025, Lyra Valkyria became WWE's first-ever Women's Intercontinental Champion.

Reviewing the 1st Round of the 2025 NFL Draft
While the Stanley Cup and NBA Playoffs commenced, and the MLB's first month was coming to a close, the NFL Draft took place. Amazing that Draft time has come already, and it's always the NFL Draft that is the biggest deal out of the main four leagues. You always hear Draft talk during the season, and the NFL's Draft gets the most TV coverage out of the four leagues. My remote trigger finger was quite busy, as I not only watched the playoff action, I peeped in on Round 1 of the Draft. I remember semi-religiously watching the Draft for a few years; I even wrote down all of the picks as I watched one year--I think it was the fateful 2005 Draft that I did that.

Villainess Review: Kelsey Montgomery (My Family's Killer Affairs)
So far, 2025 has been quite fruitful in the world of Lifetime movies. The villainesses have been delicious, amazing, and unforgettable, and so have some of the films. Among the gems that Lifetime and LMN have given us is this nice true, My Family's Killer Affairs. This was just an amazing film with awesome twists, and another amazing first, so let's get to it.

The Champ is Here... for the 17th Time!
What a calendar year, right? First, Wayne Gretzky's record gets broken, and just weeks later, more history made elsewhere. On April 20, 2025, at Night 2 of WrestleMania 41, John Cena defeated Cody Rhodes to capture the Undisputed WWE Championship. He did it, folks. Cena surpassed the number. He is a seventeen-time World Champion, and as we know, the road he took was not a virtuous one.

2025 Division Semifinals Preview
Well, folks, we're here! The regular season's ending, and the beautiful annual madness known as the Stanley Cup Playoffs is all set. The matchups are locked in, as is the overall schedule, which is flat out nuts this year. Of the eight series, two of them start on Saturday, three start on Sunday, two start on Monday, and one actually starts on Tuesday. And the one that starts on Tuesday isn't the one you'd think. The opening round of any sport's playoffs is always magical. Whether it's this, the Conference Quarterfinals in the NBA, Wild Card Weekend in the NFL, or (since 2022) the Wild Card Series in MLB, Round 1 is always just amazing, because from the moment the first game begins, the atmosphere and aura let fans know that this is a whole new game.

Le Doux Seize: Canadiens Grab Final Playoff Spot
I love this damn league, I really do. Nothing is cut and dry in the National Hockey League. The race for that 2nd Wild Card in the East was supposed to be over on Friday, but the Columbus Blue Jackets kept on winning when they needed it. As a result, the gap between the Blue Jackets and the Montréal Canadiens shrank. Two points separated them entering the penultimate day of the regular season. Each team had one game left. The Canadiens played first. They still controlled their own destiny. This was their last chance to get in on their own, and all they needed was one point in the standings. If they didn't get that, they would have to watch the Jackets tomorrow, and hope that the New York Islanders have enough in them to at least get that game to overtime.
