Finals Game Five: One Win Away
Entering Saturday, both the NBA Finals and the Stanley Cup Final were 2-2; a very close and back and forth championship period. Of course, a 2-2 series turns the whole thing into a best-of-three affair, and Game Five is immensely important. That's where the home field (or home ice in hockey) comes in. Game Five sends the series back to where it started. In the case of this year's NBA Finals, it's back to Oklahoma City. The Thunder took Game Four in comeback fashion in Indianapolis to even this thing at two, and the home court is back in OKC's favor.

"Beyond the Gates" Week 16 Review. Top Story - June 2025.
I know I sound like a broken record, but holy moley, this genre needed this show badly. Beyond the Gates is showing the world how soaps are properly done: without immensely overdone drama, without over the top acting, and with much, much needed representation. The other soaps really need to take notes. Beyond the Gates raised the bar. Everyone else is playing catch up, plain and simple.

Stanley Cup Final Game Five: Rat Trap
For the first time in six years, the Stanley Cup Final is even at two games each, and has now become a best-of-three series. Of the 29 previous occurrences, the winner of Game Five went on to win the series 22 of those times. One of the seven teams who failed was the New Jersey Devils in 2001. The Devils won Game Five in Denver, but dropped the next two games to the Colorado Avalanche. The most recent failure was 2011, when the Vancouver Canucks shut out the Boston Bruins, but were blasted again in Beantown before getting shut out at home in Game Seven.

Finals Game Four: Business Picks Up
There's something in the air in both the Stanley Cup Final and the NBA Finals this year. This is why I love the month of June. Not only is it the first month of summer, but it's the month of champions, as two of the main four leagues award their trophies during the sixth month of the year. Usually, one seems to outdo the other, and nearly every year, it's the Cup that does it. But there's something different about this year. While the Cup Final rematch has delivered big time, the NBA Finals has also been quite delicious.

Villainess Review: Bobbie Burton (Diagnosis Murder)
I absolutely love Diagnosis Murder; the show is filled with amazing villainesses, some of whom I've already written about. In past years, reruns of the show aired on PAX-TV, but currently, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries has the reruns, as well as their streaming site, Hallmark+. I have a theory as to why the latter acquired the episodes: Dick Van Dyke. He's six months away from turning 100.

Stanley Cup Final Game Four: Eins, Zwei, Drai(saitl), Vier
In Game Three of the Stanley Cup Final, the Edmonton Oilers were absolutely punched in the mouth by the Florida Panthers--literally and figuratively. A 6-1 Panthers victory, the Oilers' first horrific performance of this year's playoffs since Game Two of Round 1. An argument could be made that the Oilers needed this. They needed a bad game to really focus and get back to basics. Would it work? Would the Oilers rebound from their horrible defeat?

The 1st Match for Evolution 2 Has Been Announced
We are just over a month away from the long overdue second Evolution event, which will take place on July 13 in Atlanta. And with that much time left, we already have our first match announcement for the big event. The NXT Women's Championship will be defended at Evolution 2. At the first Evolution in 2018, the NXT Women's Championship changed hands when Shayna Baszler won the title for the second time. In this go-around, it will be Jacy Jayne defending her recently won title.

Finals Game Three: Back and Forth Battle
June 16, 2000. That's the last time the NBA Finals hit the state of Indiana. Back then, it was Reggie Miller leading a team that consisted of, among other players, Rik Smits, Dale Davis, and Antonio Davis. The Pacers were up against the Shaq and Kobe-led Lakers that year, and in that game--Game Five of that year's Finals, the Pacers actually won it. However, that win only cut their series deficit in half, and in Game Six, the Lakers clinched the championship; the team's first since 1988 and their first of three straight in the Shaq and Kobe era.

A Deep Dive into "Tales from the Crypt"
Who remembers Tales from the Crypt? I sure as hell remember enjoying this series as a kid. Yeah, you read that right. I wasn't your typical elementary school aged TV viewer back in the 90s. Yes, I watched the kid friendly stuff, but I also dove in to horror very early. I was watching Pet Sematary by age five, Phantasm II and Child's Play by age six, and Tales from the Crypt caught my eye by the time I reached age nine. I do love this show and a lot of what comes with it, so let's take a deep dive into this amazing series.

CFL Week 1 Recap: Back in the Saddle
The Canadian Football League has returned! North American football has become quite interesting ever since the instillation of the XFL and USFL, now merged into the UFL, became part of the sports calendar. Pro football is now year-round, with the UFL coming in shortly after the Super Bowl's over. Once the UFL is set to crown their champion, that's when our Canadian brothers-in-arms come in with their larger field, their 12-man defenses, their rouges, and their three-down football. This is my 13th year watching the CFL, my 12th in play--remember, no 2020 season. Hard to believe that it was that long ago that I said to myself, "You know, I need to give this CFL thing a chance."

Stanley Cup Final Game Three: Around the Goal Horn
So far, the 2025 Stanley Cup Final, the rematch between the Edmonton Oilers and the Florida Panthers, has been quite legendary. Only two games played, but nine periods were featured. Game One needed overtime and Game Two needed double overtime, and after all the dust settled, it's a 1-1 Final--the first 1-1 Final in five years. The scene now shifts to Sunrise, Florida for the next two games, the very site where the Panthers won the Stanley Cup last June. With the series being 1-1, it is guaranteed that the Final will head back to Edmonton, but the series score will be determined in these next two games.

"Beyond the Gates" Week 15 Review
So, Week 15 really brought down the house... big time! We were treated to a lot of crazy developments, and the week ended with a long overdue public revelation that I had been begging to see happen for several weeks. Hard to believe that we're almost four months into Beyond the Gates, and this show just keeps getting more and more delicious.
