A Scandal to Die For
It was a whirlwind of emotion for several high school students, but out of all of the students, none of them were as heartbroken and deeper in mourning than Elisa Peters. The person that the entire school was mourning was Jason Miller, who had been the school's English teacher for 20 years. He was beloved by many of the school's students, as well as a good bit of the faculty, but regarding Elisa, Jason actually helped her with her studies, and got her on the right track as far as her grades were concerned.

NFL Week 15 Recap: Going South
The AFC South is getting hot and heavy! Week 15's Sunday Night Football spotlight was on the Jacksonville Jaguars for the first time in 15 years; since Week 5 of the 2008 season. The Jags, who are coming off back-to-back losses, played host to a Baltimore Ravens team who was looking to become the first AFC team to clinch a playoff spot this season. The Jags were looking to bounce back from their losses, as well as the injury to Trevor Lawrence two weeks prior, but unfortunately, the Jags were outplayed from the get-go. This includes a very dumb and questionable play at the end of the first half, a weird pass play that saw the Jags fail to get out of bounds and allow the few remaining ticks to run out with no points for Jacksonville.

Avalanche Game 31 Recap: No Bigger Boat Needed
Entering the second leg of a back-to-back, the Colorado Avalanche found themselves in third place in the Central Division. It was a three way tie in points with the Winnipeg Jets and the Dallas Stars; both of whom had a game in hand over Colorado. Game 30 was a disaster, but Game 31 was a welcome opportunity to return to the top of the Central. The Avs faced off against the San Jose Sharks, the second of three meetings this season. The first meeting was Colorado's second game of the season, a 2-1 win via shootout. However, a lot has happened in the last two months. This is a different Sharks team. While they're still not in a good position, they are playing with a lot of "give a damn" and it's led them to nine wins in the 20 games they've played since their horrendous 0-10-1 start.

Big Trouble in Steel City
I love NFL Saturdays with a passion, mainly because they come very late in the season. The NFL week usually starts on Thursday, with the heart of the week on Sunday, and the finale on Monday, but in mid-December, just a hair away from Christmas, we get Saturday football. This is mainly because college football's regular season is over, and it allows the NFL to places a few of their games on Saturdays during the end of the season. This year is no different. Week 15 includes the first of six straight NFL Saturdays; the final four weeks of the regular season, Super Wild Card Weekend, and the Divisional Playoff.

Avalanche Game 30 Recap: Rough Night in Winnipeg
So quite a bit happened regarding the Colorado Avalanche following the team's five game homestand. The team traded Tomas Tatar to the Seattle Kraken, receiving a 5th-round pick in return. The Avs acquired Tatar during the offseason from the New Jersey Devils, but his start to this season has not been a good one. Tatar, usually a 20-goal-per-season player, only put one puck in the net this season. The assists were there, but the goals weren't. Tatar's only goal with the Avs came in the 6-5 comeback win over the Calgary Flames; it was actually the Avs' first goal of the game.

63 Strikes, You're Out!. Top Story - December 2023.
They did it, folks. They finally did it. The Los Angeles Chargers actually fired Brandon Staley as their head coach, with the firing coming after the Chargers suffered a very embarrassing loss on national television. The Chargers were on the road against the Las Vegas Raiders, and it was a game that saw the Raiders absolutely pour it on. 63 points. Nine touchdowns--seven of them by the offense. The 63 points fell just 10 short of the long-standing record set by the Chicago Bears, who scored 73 points in the 1940 NFL Championship Game over Washington. However, the Raiders' 63 points are the most in team history, and marked the second time this season that a team scored 60+ points--the Miami Dolphins scored 70 points in Week 3.

Avalanche Game 29 Recap: Welcome Home
The Colorado Avalanche's five-game homestand concluded with the second and last meeting of the season against the Buffalo Sabres. The first game was a close 3-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks, but it was followed by two-goal losses to the Winnipeg Jets and the Philadelphia Flyers. It looked like the homestand would be a failure when the Avs fell behind by two goals late against the Calgary Flames, but Colorado scored three in the final eight and a half minutes to win it. Right now, the Avs needed to win this one to salvage the homestand.

Crowded (Week 15)
It never fails. Every December features an NFL playoff race that is just captivating, entertaining, thrilling, and yes, mind-boggling. As it often does, it gets tighter as the weeks run out, but this year has been just insane. The results of Week 14 have seen one team lock in a spot in the 2023 playoffs, but the remaining 13 spots have nearly the whole league still alive and very close in record, for the most part.

Reviewing a Pair of Villainesses from "Echo Base"
Tubi has really been bringing it this year with their original films, and the villainesses who have graced them. It reached a point last year where I included Tubi in my year-end list, and this year, well, Tubi's turned it up. Among such amazing films from Tubi this year is the action-packed sci-fi thriller, Echo Base, which begins with an apparent attack on London, with Capt. Skylar Reagan and her partner, Lt. Malik Wheeler, needing to act fast on this mission. However, it's quickly revealed as a simulation, and it went sideways because the pair were at odds regarding what they needed to do.

NFL Week 14 Recap: We Have to Talk About Patrick
OK, let's talk about the elephant in the room. Coming off their primetime loss to the Green Bay Packers, the Kansas City Chiefs returned home to host the Buffalo Bills, and we know the history there. The Chiefs have been Buffalo's playoff bogeyman for a few years now, and in this meeting, KC was looking to bounce back against a Bills team who is unpredictable. Buffalo's known for losing to teams they should beat, yet in KC, they were on fire. Bills led the whole game, and that included a late 20-17 lead in the fourth quarter. However, in typical fashion, the Chiefs came back in unorthodox fashion: Patrick Mahomes tosses it to Travis Kelce, who then throws a lateral to Kadarius Toney, who scores a go-ahead touchdown. Chiefs take the lead, and were set to beat the Bills again.

You know how every reality show has that trainwreck cast member who we just can't quit watching, no matter how much we should just look away? That's the NFC South in the NFL. And apparently, the football gods liked seeing this division go to pot so much, that they decided to bring back this wacky recurring character for a second season.

Villainess Review: Nicole Whitfield (The Perfect In-Laws)
I had been looking forward to this one for a while, it was Reel One Entertainment's latest contribution to Lifetime. The Perfect In-Laws was set at the wealthy Whitfield estate, and it actually started with a flashback scene of the family's matriarch suddenly passing away while in the bathtub. On to the present day, which sees the film's central character, Audrey Sinclair, on his way to the house, as she's engaged to Xander Whitfield.
