Super Wild Card Weekend Recap: The Inheritance
Over 24 hours have passed, and I still feel like I'm in a wonderful dream. It was Sunday, January 14, 2024, and the Green Bay Packers were heading to Arlington, Texas to face off against the Dallas Cowboys in one of the NFC's three Wild Card Playoff contests. As the game got closer to beginning, I was just drinking in this moment. Jordan Love is in his first playoff game. This is big. No matter what happens from this point, Love has more than proved that he's the man in Green Bay, and he had already exceeded expectations by simply playing in this game.

Avalanche Game 43 Recap: The Comeback Kings
It was a day where the NFL took center stage, as this year's Super Wild Card Weekend was underway. Even so, the NHL had a stacked schedule: all 32 teams were in action. Two of them were the Colorado Avalanche and the Toronto Maple Leafs, and they faced each other. That's a marquee matchup, mainly because it pits two of the NHL's biggest stars against each other: Nathan MacKinnon and Auston Matthews. One's climbing the ladder in the points race, the other is leading the league in goals. Giddy--by God--up!

A Look at a Very Elegant Debut at TNA's "Hard to Kill" Event
Wrestling fans witnessed a landmark moment on Saturday, January 13, 2024. The Hard to Kill event marked the return of TNA Wrestling after seven years of being known as Impact Wrestling, with the TNA name's return being announced months prior at Bound For Glory. The event was quite big for TNA's Knockouts Division. For one, the main show kicked off with the Knockouts Ultimate X match, which was won by Gisele Shaw. I saw this coming; Gisele had been gaining a lot of good elevation in the last year. 2023 was good to Gisele, and I had a feeling that 2024 would see that elevation continue to improve.

History of the NFL Playoffs (Part V: Wild Card Weekend - 1990-present)
In 1978, the NFL added a second Wild Card spot per conference, which resulted in the birth of a new opening round for the NFL playoffs: the Wild Card Playoff. From 1978 until 1989 (with the exception of the shortened 1982 season), each conference kicked off the playoffs with their Wild Cards (seeded #4 and #5) facing each other, while the three division champions (East, Central, and West) all had byes straight to the Divisional Playoff. The winner would advance to the Divisional Playoff against the #1 seed in the conference, though if the #1 seed was a division foe, the Wild Card Playoff winner would face the #2 team.

The History of the Norris Division
Ever since I learned about the old NHL divisions--the Adams, Patrick, Norris, and Smythe, my fascination with them has increased as time passed by. I do love reading about the Adams Division because I'm a Quebec Nordiques fan, and learning about how they fared in that division back in the day was just amazing. The Patrick Division was spectacular due to the geographical aspect, and while the Smythe Division is a story I'll delve into later, it was definitely an impactful division. The subject of this story is the Norris Division. This one was quite amazing, according to what I've read about the Norris.

History of the NFL Playoffs (Part IV: The Wild Card Playoff - 1978-1989)
The 1970s saw professional football change forever with the historic merger between the American Football League and the National Football League. The merger came with a new playoff format that qualified the three division winners (East, Central, and West) from each of the two newly formed conferences (American and National Football Conference), as well as a fourth playoff team known as the Wild Card. From 1970 until 1977, the NFL playoffs had three rounds: the Divisional Playoff, the Conference Championships, and of course, the Super Bowl, but in 1978, the NFL decided to deliver a new wrinkle into the playoff format.

Avalanche Game 42 Recap: Impostors
Boy, does this feel good! Entering this night, I had said that the Colorado Avalanche owed the Vegas Golden Knights an ass-whipping, though it was not a few months in the making. The 7-0 drubbing that the Golden Knights gave us was just part of it. We had owed them an ass-kicking ever since the evening of June 10, 2023. What happened on that date, you ask? The Golden Knights won the Stanley Cup. Our Stanley Cup. Granted, that Cup's going to go from team to team, with some lucky teams holding it for two or three years, but still, Vegas should be thanking Seattle for that upstart upset last year.

The History of the Patrick Division
As I learned about the National Hockey League's classic divisions, I couldn't help but be fascinated by the Patrick Division. One reason is that while the divisions originally had little to nothing to do with geography, the Patrick Division consistently had East Coast franchises, with the exception of one season of the division's existence. The division was named after Lester Patrick, the longtime player and coach for the New York Rangers, who was also credited for a number of innovations that remain in the current NHL today: the blue line, the penalty shot, and tracking assists, among other things.

My Plans and Goals on Vocal in 2024
We are over a week into 2024, the New Year aura is pretty much gone, but even so, we do have out goals. One could say we have our resolutions. I am no different. April 2024 will mark three years on Vocal, and it still amazes me. It seems like yesterday that I started writing on this wonderful site, yet nearly three years and over 1100 stories later, I've done so much on this site.

Where in the World is (the Respect for) Carmen Sandiego?
Television, film, and even video game history is full of some legendary baddies. Those of you who have read my stories know that I focus on the females of the bunch, but even so, I've noticed that when it comes to villainesses, the ones that get the most mention are the Wicked Queen, the Wicked Witch of the West, Cruella de Vil, Rita Repulsa, and Catwoman, just to name a few. Now those are iconic villainesses, but there's more than that group. One such villainess came to mind just barely before I had the idea to write this: Carmen Sandiego.

Avalanche Game 41 Recap: The Halfway Point
Seems like yesterday that this season started, yet here it is, Game #41 of the Colorado Avalanche's 2023-24 season. Game #40 did not go well for the Avs, as it saww the Florida Panthers thrash the Avs and put up eight goals on the team. For this game, the Avs were facing the Boston Bruins, a team who the Avs have a very good history with for the last quarter-century.
