Lives Intertwined
The clock hit 11:45 pm as she arrived home after a long, tiring day at work. She stumbled down to her room and hopped in some clothes laying around from the laundry she hasn’t put away in a few days. “I’ll get to it eventually” she loves to tell herself. Her procrastination loves to take full control of her sometimes. “Laziness, pure laziness” her mother had always told her before she moved out about two years prior. Her mother’s phrase still haunts her. It, seriously, makes her NOT want to put away that gigantic pile of clothes on the floor. She walked back up to the kitchen, and as she walked into her kitchen, she noticed a little bit of cardboard sitting beside the trash can. It was really dark that night and she knew she didn’t have anything to do or anywhere to be tomorrow, so she decided to go outside and start a fire. She grabbed the cardboard, a lighter, and dryer lint and walked out of her backdoor. She stumbled down the three withered white cement stairs to her patio and headed off to the left a little to get to her firepit. She started up the fire with a little bit of cardboard and the dryer lint and sent it all ablaze. Her backyard was dark other than the massive, scorching, bright orange fire she had just lit, and dim, delicate, little stars in the beautiful night sky.
