Virginia Road Trips:
If you’re like me and get all kinds of excited at the mere idea of a road trip, then you know the pure joy that can be had taking the wheel to get to a destination. Virginia’s southeastern corner, known widely as Hampton Roads and more locally as the 757, offers a myriad of starting points in traveling by road. However, the mere point of a road trip doesn’t have to be ending up at a set destination. The road traveled in of itself can be an excellent reason to get out there and see what Virginia has around the next bend.

Taking Road Trips with Children as a Single Parent:
The author’s children, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, TN Traveling was always a privilege that I loved having. Not only was I fortunate that a parent of mine was from a very scenic part of the United States in which relatives resided, I have also lived in areas that were popular tourist destinations my entire life. If I wanted to, I could keep busy every weekend where I reside now, because area attractions are mere miles from my doorstep.

Thank you, Pop:
Two weeks after my father’s funeral, I decided I was finally ready to start the bittersweet task of sorting through his personal affects one Saturday morning. Feeling the now all too familiar lump rise up in my throat, I clamped down on my emotions and willed myself to drive to Pop’s on a bright, sunny day that completely contrasted my melancholy.

Diary of a Trash Collector
