Threading the Needle
Ahhh, where to even start on this story. Growing up – I seemed to be the only one in the family who had zero interest in learning how to sew or knit. Based on the occasional crafts you had to make in school, it also seemed that I had zero talents on that front, so maybe it was for the best. At the age of 20, I was about to move to Ireland for six months, and my mother thought that teaching me how to knit socks would be a perfect bonding experience before I took off… after three attempts, where she had twice pulled it apart and exclaimed that she had never seen any socks that ugly, I decided my career as a knitter was far behind me. And it still is!

Happiness in a suspicious box
When Amy and Eric woke up the following day, they felt more rested than they had in a very long time. They stretched and looked over to where their grandma and uncle had been sleeping. But they weren't there. They looked around, and suddenly they smelled freshly baked bread. Quickly they got dressed and ran out through the only door in the room, and they found themselves in the same kitchen they had arrived in yesterday. Their uncle looked up, "good morning, you two, are you ready for a day full of adventure," he asked. Amy was more than ready, "oh yes, you bet, I am ready. What will we be doing today?" she responded. Eric was busy munching on a warm scone his grandma had just placed in front of him, but he nodded along. Oh yes, he was ready as well.

The Chocolate Cake
As Amy and Eric stepped through the mirror and entered another realm - their grandma hugged them tightly. "Welcome," she said through tears and kisses and hugs. Amy and Eric couldn't believe it. They were still not sure if they were dreaming, but it seemed so real. Grandma started to walk down the corridor they had stepped into, and Eric took her hand. Meanwhile, Amy looked back to the mirror they had just walked through and wondered if it was too late to step back out? What about their granddad? He would be so worried when he comes home from town. Could they leave him a note? She pondered... oh, her grandma and Eric were already ahead of her... from fear of being separated, she ran over to the others and grabbed her grandmother's other hand.

The Mirror
Amy and Eric ran into the old, run-down barn. They had been told repeatedly not to play in it as their granddad was afraid it might collapse on top of them. But as young explorers, they were determined to roam around the barn looking for old treasures. Their grandmother had always hidden things for them around the farm for them to track down, but after she died, they hoped to see if they could find the very last treasurer she had hidden. It had to be in the barn. Where else could she have hidden it? They had looked everywhere already.

Oh, Arthur
After the sounds of roaring thunder had waned, Mary woke up below a heap of rubbles. How long had she been passed out? She hurt all over her body; she placed her hand on her chest. There was a burning. She looked down; the heart-shaped locket her younger brother had given her for her birthday was stuck in her chest, right above her heart.

Can I say Hi to your Dog?
This is a story I wrote about dogs. I draw on inspiration from my own life as a vivid dog lover, my special relationship with my late granddad, and from the enthusiasm of the daughter of one of my best friends, who reminded me of myself. Anybody who has ever had a dog shares a unique bond: The love we have for our loyal four-legged furry friends - and the innocence and passion they give us back. I hope you enjoy my story:
