Although there are a million reasons why! In this post, I will highlight just 5 reasons Black mothers support their LGBTQ children. Despite the reality of living in a world that still sadly communicates all sorts of negative messaging about and towards LGBTQ people and those who support them. Let us as Black mothers be ever so mindful and unapologetically resolved to refute every one of them. Crumbling every negative message with the kryptonite of the power of our unconditional love for our children. Let us encourage one another (as well as others) to do the same until "LoveWins" is a reality and not just a hashtag!

For most of our lives, we are taught and learn very well to live according to the expectations that others set for us. When I say “others” I am referring to all the people in our lives who we love, respect, and who we believe have our best interest in mind. “To Thine Ownself Be True” during this time is usually also combined with an implied “but do it our way because we know what is best for you.”

LGBT Children and Matters of a Mother’s Heart
One of the major pushbacks LGBTQ people get from heterosexuals is about how their relationships are “unacceptable” “abnormal” and “unnatural”. However. Perhaps it’s time for those of us who are mothers to consider these matters according to the lens of our very own hearts. I’ll call it, the “Mother Lens“. As mothers, we are the only ones on earth who are able to give birth to all of humanity. (How absolutely freaking incredible is that!) Considering this. I declare that perhaps it’s time we look a little deeper about what really are the unacceptable, abnormal, and unnatural matters of a mother’s heart. Especially when it comes to her own LGBTQ children. Because the truth of the matter is. Only we alone would know!

Good Neighbors Share Umbrellas
My words from me to you about my recent “Good Neighbors” experience. So a few days ago I decided to go for a walk even though it’s a Saturday and I usually only walk on Monday thru Friday. However, since my “essential job working” hubby had to go into the office for a few hours; and I just happen to be carrying my full share of Covid-19 pandemic shut-in weight. I figured, why not go for a walk and burn a few extra calories for the day and make my doctor, (Dr. R) virtually happy even though she doesn’t actually know.
