The Black Witch 5
"I w-would never dare anger you or ruin a task given to me. Please c-calm down oh great Kuriga." Lora's honest eyes made her fear and confusion obvious. Kuri's calm rage saw the truth in Lora's statement. Her eyes still ablaze Kuri grabbed an appetizer from my plate and sampled it. The single bite she took was spit out almost as soon as it bitten. "It's definitely posioned. Bring me all the kitchen staff." With that time around us began to move. The guards back in motion completed their draws. "Put those away." Kuri commanded as she turned to the guards. Her glowing eyes gave the guards enough information; if they wanted to survive they would do well to heed the witches desires. In the brief moments where Lora had dispatched other guards to round up our suspects the dinning hall was a tense and eerily silent. Kuri had turned her gaze to me and looked at me with such concern that for a moment I thought I could see a tears sitting in her eyes. Then the women who were just preparing our meal walked in, with terror on their face. The guards linned them up against the wall so that they were in front of Kuri when she decided to look away from me.

Rebranding Mathematics. Top Story - February 2022.
I have been absolutely infatuated with mathematics since my junior year of highschool. I took that love of the subject and decided to pursue it in my college career. My ability and general enjoyment of the subject led me to tutor other students as they struggled with the maths that I had completed. This supporting educational role brought a few things to light: math is scary/hard, how will this be useful, and math is boring. These views broke my heart. Then the thought of "Why is math viewed this way?" crept its way into my number laden mind. The conclusion I have come to after teaching in a one on one enviroment for the past four years is that the issue is a branding or rather a presentational issue.

The Black Witch 4
"Alright lets get off this roof, and go cook up a traditional dish." my voice loud and clear. The remenants of my smile hung on my face in the form a what probably looked like a smirk. "Why would we have to cook?" Kuri's voice and inquesitive eyes asked the same thing. I turned toward the guard stationed at the roof's entryway "Simple, they refuse to cook for me here. Not that I trust them to do so. So, we'll have to enjoy the kitchen and try our best no to screw up the dish." My explination trailed me as I approached the guards with kuri, who had quickened her pace to walk beside me. "Hmm, izzat so?" Kuri proded. "Hey one of you gaurds, go tell the kitchen that I ,Kuriga, want a traditional dish of their chosing." Her command was met with confusion. "Lady Kuriga, we are to watch that scummy man at all times so we can't do that." The guard at the center of the door informed Kuri. This was met by an odd sensation where the sky around us went dark, sound no longer traveled, and Kuri's pressure was ever present. "I will watch him in place of one of you so there is no problem.I am the Black Witch Kuriga, nations tremble before me and the darkness that mankind fears heeds my call. If I ask something of you your response should be yes. Just so we are clear this man is a prince and lord of this nation. You who are but guards will adress him as such." Her warning was spoken directly into our minds with a calm even voice. Kuri's enrapturing voice had such a weight to it that even knowing it was not meant for me my body was covered in goosebumps.

The Black Witch
"How exaclty do you plan on doing that?" The simplicity of her plan drew out the question. "Hmmm, I'll probably show up at the castle, offer some gifts and strike a deal." Her response was casual. Almost as if it was nothing more than buying ingredients for dinner. Kuri turned to me and spoke a terrible sentence in a soft voice "I'm only getting permission to observe from up close so it shouldn't be too hard." Her eyes were reminscent of a researcher on the verge of recieving funding to experiment. With that she left.

The Black Witch
"Do you swear before the twelve gods to hold faithful to this union?" Asked the priestess. The almost rhetorical question reverberated through the temple. For an instant I could see the disdain buried in her deep hazel eyes. "I swear to them and the three above them." The scripted response cut through my vocal cords and grated against my throat. The priestess softened her gaze as she turned to my soon to be bride. The repeated question now came out with an infliction that was only an emphasis a way from a joke. "Do you swear before the twelve gods to hold faithful to this union?"

Drowning as a Tree
The first drizzle of the rainy season is a refreshing event. The water seeps into the soil and fills the streams. It provides enough change to make my leaves turn up and my tissues bulge. I don't fear the intermittent showers nor the massive storms. My roots are planted deep and I have weathered many. The storms that last for weeks only drum up a slight anxiety. The nearby streams swell tenfold and touch my base but they are nothing compared to my majestic size- at least that is what I tell myself.
