I've loved Lana Del Rey since a friend sent me a link to the "Video Games" music video. The dreamy melody with the poetic lyrics sung by the hauntingly beautiful voice had me mesmerized. The following is a list of my 22 favorite Lana songs because I couldn't manage to shorten my list to 20. I've decided to exclude songs from Blue Bannisters, her latest.

My Vocal Journey so far
After I left my sales job last year, writing took center stage in my life. My mornings begin with a cup of coffee and a pencil flying across a journal. Once the kids are on their buses, my laptop opens, and fingers eagerly tap the keyboard, releasing my ideas. My 2021 writing goal was to complete my novel and write every single day. I was on pace to finish a rough draft until I discovered Vocal this past July.

The hand of misfortune fell upon Mabel Moon on Halloween. As she locked her door that morning, she noticed a late rent notice taped to her door. Quickly ripping it down, she pounded down the steps and knocked on the landlord’s door, reminding him she had already paid the rent in cash. Mr. Ryker’s replying smirk told her all that she needed to know. Mabel feared confrontation, so she hurried to work, hoping her boyfriend Russell would have solutions.

Since the stock market crash three years ago, havoc has wreaked on families and businesses all across America, and now it’s come to her front door. With her unemployed currently and her father’s masonry business getting so few jobs, they need money to support the family of seven. Nausea burns her stomach as she imagines the meager price this family heirloom will fetch.
