What happens when you quit sugar?
The average American consumes half a cup or more of sugar per day, and surveys show that cutting back on sugar increases cravings for it. Some people even claim that experiencing sugar withdrawal symptoms makes them crave the substance more. Sugar actually decreases their sensitivity to that sweet flavour, making them feel like they need to add more sugar to their food or beverages in order to feel the sweet flavour again.
