Charlie
In my travels I have come across many unusual things and individuals with stories of their own that I rarely can comprehend how someone can survive such paroles. One of which comes from someone very close to me; Charlie. Of course Charlie is not his real name, for names are changed to protect the innocent as they say. If I were to name this individual, Charlie would be a name that would suite him just fine.

His inability to get along with his neighbor perhaps some great war or his unwavering ability to create something to destroy one's self. The nations economies crashing all at once from besting the other. All possibilities, what occurred was far more worse. A global deterioration of its eco-system. It was late one night when I encountered something I would not believe to have seen in my lifetime. I was walking out to the car when I heard a sound coming from my right. In a tree not very far from me was two eyes staring back at me. It made a sound that I have only heard in movies.

A Reason For Giving
My little church group of forty plus ladies have been an inspiration to me over the years. Each have in their own way, done some amazing things for others from offering meals to our local food pantry, blankets & coats for the homeless and / or money that somehow found its way into someone's pocket. These are only a few of the things that remind me of the importance of giving of oneself.

In search of an apartment, Joaquin and Maria, needed one that would allow them to have dogs. One did come available in the right place at the right time. It was not very big but it was sufficient enough for their needs. Never thinking twice about why it was available, why was it affordable with no security deposit needed and why they could move in right a way with no issues; gave them no qualms. What started out for them alone, became more like the hang out place for family or friends.

It's a quiet lazy day, too wet to go outside to play and not much to do indoors without making a mess. Mother did not feel up to continuing with her renovation plans for the house and really only wanted a quiet day for her and the kids. Everyone agreed to an afternoon of movies and popcorn. Katy was not feeling a movie nor popcorn, so she left her family to their choices and retreated to the upstairs living space.

Josh just started his first day on the nightshift at the local department store when the unbelievable happened. He and Steven walked the last employee out of the building when they began to settle in for the night. One stayed in the camera room while the other checked the floors for any stragglers. As Steven reached the front doors, the lights were turned down for the night. He observed the last car leave the lot and radio back an all clear on the first floor.

Gather children as I spin a tale or two of a house I once knew. It was not very big or either small and not that different from many others in the neighborhood. It was said that an elderly couple once occupied the home. The wife and husband were nice to all that knew them. They were happy as can be, until one day the little old man became sick and past away. With her husband no longer alive the wife did not wish to stay.

The Way It Was
A childhood not that different from some but a world apart from so many. I was raised the eldest of five, our parents were there most of the time, our grandparents, aunts and uncles stepped in where they could and we had a place to call home. Simple, normal, nothing to be concern about right, on the outside we were whole, happy, a typical family unit.
