Hair Removal 101
There are cultures that embrace body hair. Women can walk around with hairy legs, hair arms and not feel embarrassed. Wouldn't that be nice? Wouldn't you love to meet the misogynist who started it all, who said to his wife or girl friend, "Could you please do something about the situation under your arms?" I have a few things to say to that guy....

Motivational Quotes to Help You Lose Weight
Losing weight is not easy. Those of us that have had a lifetime of struggling with our weight are fully aware of this fact. Ask any person with a weight issue what the first thing they do when they walk into a room is and, chances are, they will say, "Check out all of the fat people." Because that is what some of us do-we look around to see how many folks are bigger than we are. You may ask, "Why don't you just stop complaining and stop eating?" Good question. If only it were that simple.

Holy Crap I'm 40: Clothing Edition
Fashion at 40, where to begin. The most important rule of thumb being, if you were able to wear it the first time it was in style, it might not be the best idea to be wearing it when it comes back in style. Unless you have a lot of confidence, or you just don't care, or you are a professional model. Even I looked good in a miniskirt in the 80s, but now I would just scare people. It is important to know when to say when. There has got to be a happy medium between the woman who dresses to kill every day and the woman who looks like she is homeless... I am still trying to figure that out, as I am the one who favors the latter. It helps that I only have boys and they love me no matter what I am wearing. I get the feeling that if I had daughter's, it would be an entirely different story. I sense I would get a lot of eye rolls and door slams.

Simple Methods to Creating New Friendships
Studies have shown that being social and having friends is good for your over-all well being. Making friends isn't always easy, especially when most of your days are spent at work and you have little time for anything else. When the quality of your time becomes more important than the quantity of your time, it is important to have some sure fire ways of getting people to like you and then, subsequently, forging friendships. Unfortunately, some people simply do not like people. And they don't care if people don't like them. They are arrogant, braggadocious, and just plain not nice. Whatever their issues may be, those folks are on one end of the spectrum. Weeding out those people can be quick and easy.

Cleaning Tips to Make Your Life Easier
Cleaning is an acquired taste. Some of us find it cathartic; We clean when we are stressed or anxious. Others only clean out of necessity-when the gunk in the toilet takes on a life of its own or the sheets begin to smell like something died in them. Dishes pile up and spill over, the sticky substance on the counters starts spreading down the cabinets... not a pretty picture.

Retro Exercise Trends
Exercise should be a part of your daily routine. Just like brushing your teeth and getting dressed, it is important to get your heart pumping. There are those that take the most strenuous route and run miles a day. There are the gym rats that can spend hours lifting weights, stretching and taking a variety of classes. And then there are people that take the path of least resistance and do what comes easiest-walking outside to get the paper, using upper body strength to open the refrigerator or lift the remote. Different strokes for different folks.

Zika, West Nile and Malaria..Oh My!
Traveling is stressful under the best of circumstances, but once a warning from the CDC comes into the mix, it becomes a whole different type of stress. Once upon a time, there were murmurings of the Zika virus. Nothing too specific, just tales of babies born with small heads. Didn't seem to be anything that would effect us in the great USA, but then, somehow, the virus started appearing in Brazil, then Puerto Rico and was getting closer and closer to the greater population. Most recently, a public health alert was issued. "The CDC has issued an alert for travel to areas where Zika virus is spreading, which now includes Miami-Dade County, Florida. Travelers who are pregnant or considering pregnancy should consult a doctor."

Taboo TV That's Become Tolerable
It seems that almost anything goes on television these days. Words that warrant having your mouth washed out with soap, revealing outfits, subject matters that make you blush..it is all out there. Whether it is 11:00 in the morning or 11:00 at night, it doesn't seem to matter. Kids are being exposed to more inappropriate content than ever before and parents are at a loss. On January 1, 1997, the parental ratings went into effect. This was supposed to help monitor what your family could watch without the fear of being exposed to "bad" grown-up stuff. However, if you want your children to remain naive and innocent, the best thing to do is probably pop in a Sesame Street DVD or switch to their favorite DVRed kids show and hope for the best.
