Rate Limit Exceeded Twitter. Content Warning.
We need to talk about Twitter uh that is the social media platform that I and many other in games media most frequent and every day we fear for its life uh it just feels like Elon Musk the head honcho running this thing is what do I begin um in case uh Twitter doesn't end up making it in the short term or the long term know that I am on Instagram as well this is instagram.com young underscore yeah and I'm also on Tick Tock though I rarely post on it but just in case tick tock.com yeah but Twitter is where a lot of games media congregate it's where a lot of new spreads it is the ideal social media platform because of the short burst of information that can be output to quickly spread news and to quickly spread you know articles that you can read and videos that you can watch and want not announcements can be made in a very easy to read fashion and so Twitter has served as a valuable platform for gaming coverage in general all of that stands to be compromised by this morons decisions ever since he took over Twitter there's been numerous outages there's been numerous decisions that are baffling when it comes to verification and whatnot the way he's implemented Twitter blue made blue check marks insignificant and for verification and locked some key social media features behind this subscription paywall and now with this latest shenanigan I don't know why Elon Musk thought this would be a good idea but you can read this for yourself to address extreme levels of data scraping and system manipulation we've applied the following temporary limits verified accounts are limited to reading 6 000 posts per day not posting reading 6 000 posts per day unverified accounts to 600 posts per day and new unverified accounts to 300 posts per day the explanation is extremely vague and the solution is just asinine in its incompetence does he have any idea how fast people get through six thousand posts reading through Twitter scrolling through Twitter and how much quicker people get through 600 posts or 300 posts a day and implementing these limitations Elon Musk has practically made Twitter completely useless it only takes a couple minutes to scroll through enough tweets where eventually you're not going to be able to read other people's tweets you're not going to be able to read replies and the whole idea of this social network just dies and by the way the reason I'm reading this tweet off of this CNBC article instead of Elon musk's Twitter page is because you guessed it even if I try on desktop I'm given this error because I've reached my limit on how many tweets I can read also the application of this limitation is inconsistent across devices on the mobile app I can access Elon musk's account and tweets are a little more accessible but I still cannot read replies for my own tweet so it's still a highly inconvenient experience on desktop this is what my home page looks like this is the for you tweets Tab and this is the following tweets tab both of these present this error where I just can't read any tweets now because I've reached my limit the only way for me to Glimpse at my own tweets and what replies there might be on them right now is to go to the notification applications Tab and scroll through here but even then when I try to click on a tweet to gauge specific replies you can see right here I get this error sorry your rate limited please wait a few moments and try again and there's an error when it comes to loading the replies even going to my own profile I cannot read my own tweets because it gives me that error where it says something went wrong try reloading right now notifications is the only Avenue I have when it comes to interacting with Twitter engaging what's going on in my timeline it just it makes no sense on mobile the for you and following Taps still show tweets but when I try to refresh and update it says cannot retrieve tweets at this time please try again so this is actually pretty useless as well though I can actually say like look up Elon musk's account and it does actually show on the mobile version for some reason but when I do it on the desktop when I try to type his name and check out his page it gives me me an error saying I can't look at his tweet so the application is wonky and broken as all hell now the poor implementation of this limitation does mean that there are workarounds for example there's this website called tweetdeck.twitter.com where you can essentially customize the way your Twitter page looks by having these columns that show different things so this is what I've set up very quickly um so right here I got my home my profile and Elon musk's tweets so I can keep up with this ridiculous shenanigan the limitation to the number of tweets you can read does not apply if you are on tweet deck so this is one potential solution right now as all this plays out all the tweets are showing up just fine here you can see right here just how hard Elon Musk is getting ratioed which highlights the level of backlash that he's been facing so instead of addressing that backlash what does he do he jokes about it he says rate limited due to reading all the posts about rate limits he needs to understand that this limit rotation is as good as shutting down Twitter because eventually everyone's going to reach that cap when it comes to the number of tweets that they can read and then nobody's going to be able to read any tweets or be able to use Twitter efficiently to socially interact in this social network and it's going to defeat the whole purpose of this platform wait I've got an update for you guys this literally happened live as I was recording the video it reads right here saw your rate limited please wait a few moments then try again on tweetdeck it seem as though Elon Musk and the Twitter team have caught wind of this workaround and have since plugged this loophole because now all the columns show that I'm not able to retweet that something went wrong try reloading that the rate limit has been reached so this solution no longer exists I wish I could show you how people feel about this but I cannot read tweets on social media but based on what's trending right now you can see that people are very upset and are baffled and are thinking this may very well kill Twitter unless this this is disabled fast right here I took a screenshot of what was trending just an hour ago rip Twitter's over 70 000 tweets my Twitter over 1.4 million tweets only 600 referring to the fact that you can only read 600 tweets before you are capped that's getting tens of thousands of tweets you get the idea and even right now goodbye Twitter is trending with over 40 000 tweets hashtag rate limit exceeded is trending with over 10 000 tweets rip Twitter like Elon Musk is trending with over a million tweets about him the only help we have right now for Twitter is that Elon Musk did say that these limitations are temporary but exactly how temporary the vagueness surrounding why this implementation is happening at all and not giving us any sort of timeline for how long we can expect this limitation to be implemented for has thrown Twitter into chaos he surprised us with this announcement and not only the surprises yeah actually made the announcement later than when these limitations were implemented because people started noticing a few hours before this tweet went live that Twitter just wasn't functioning properly that people just weren't able to see tweets or see replies that they were getting this rate limitation notification so the lack of proper and prompt communication kick-started this whole confusion that then became anger and bafflement as Elon Musk announced one of the worst solutions to what I assume is some kind of Maintenance process judging by what he's saying here but this explains nothing to most people again the Crux of this is exactly how temporary are we talking a couple hours if it's a couple hours whatever are we talking a couple days if it's a couple days or a couple weeks or whatever uh this is uh yeah this platform is going to die off pretty quickly it's going to nosedive also I'm paranoid that this is in part a way for Elon Musk to test a new scheme for Twitter blue the subscription the that gives you a bunch of benefits that should just be default to any user if he wants a social media platform to thrive I feel like he's finding a way to make us at verified accounts can read unlimited number of tweets while unverified accounts will be limited to being able to read a certain number of posts per day but there is a huge portion of the Twitter user base that is not applied for a Twitter blue subscription that refuses to pay for it and so if you were to implement something like that this platform is that a lot of people would leave I don't know exactly how this is all going to go down Elon musk's incompetence is unpredictable and when it crops up and how severe its effects are which is why if you're interested in following me on social media for posts aside from videos I recommend you follow me on Instagram maybe Tick Tock for silly little things but mainly Instagram might be my next alternative if for whatever reason Twitter doesn't end up Surviving this I there might be other platforms out there that I might look into for now though I don't know just just one wanted to put this out there yeah this is just a huge inconvenience right now Twitter was such a hub for gaming news so it's just gonna make it harder to keep all the information in one place I'm not saying this is going to destroy games Media or anything what I'm saying is that Twitter was just a nice place to make everyone's lives more convenient and Twitter is in many ways the Hub where a lot of folks in the gaming Media or gaming content landscape keep in touch so this just sucks for those who are in that space like myself and many others it's just a good thing that Elon Musk continues to ruin further and further and I just I just can't comprehend the depths of incompetence to which one has to stoop to to to to make decisions like this a freaking chimpanzee could run Twitter better than freaking Elon Musk at this point or at least that's one man's frustrated take let me know in the comments below what your thoughts and opinions are on this whole Twitter situation A congressman there's plenty of data from California that when the California band uh using race as one factor in admissions the admissions of black students other students of color declined dramatically Andrea what isn't being talked about enough is the harm this is going to do for students not just like in Latino students but white and Asian American students consider students going to Harvard who want to become the future political leaders in this country the future president Senators Congress people you think they're going to have a better chance of doing that and doing that successfully if they're in classes that don't have adequate representation from African-Americans and Latinos are they going to understand the country or think if someone wants to be CEO of Google or Apple in my district I can tell you from talking to those CEOs how much they have to interact with people in every diverse Community you're doing a terrible disservice to the Future Leaders of this country in a multi-racial multi-ethnic democracy how do you see universities now trying to tailor their admissions programs to create diverse classes it's going to be a challenge I mean Justice Roberts did have that line that students can talk about race and their personal uh essays I I imagine that they will try to have a more qualitative assessment on essays to comply with the Supreme Court they're going to have to look as you've discussed earlier about not having as many Legacy emissions not having as much Reliance on standardized test scores but look I represent an Asian-American majority District I understand some of the the sentiment there and what I say to people in my own district is many people in the Asian American Community wouldn't have been in America if it weren't for the Civil Rights Movement my parents probably wouldn't have been in America the Civil Rights Movement led to the 1965 Immigration Reform Act that's what allowed people from Asia to start immigrating to the United States so we owe an enormous debt to the Civil Rights Movement and in fact it was LBJ in 1965 right after the passage of the Voting Rights Act and the fair housing law and a lot of the other big major cases that gave a big speech about the importance of diversity and affirmative action do you think that at this stage that colleges can you know find ways to as you point out standardized tests not to use the standardized tests which clearly Advantage those schools those kids who come from schools that have you know all kinds of tutoring and special prep programs for the SATs and other tests the way for standardized tests and I think they can look at a person's essays again Rob Robert says that you can talk about races part of your life and the reality is Race Matters race is consequential to people's lives and so if we are being honest about the adversity folks face the challenges they overcome they're going to talk about race and I think that the colleges are going to have to figure out how they do that be while being consistent with the court decision but from talking to University presidents who expected this decision it's not really a surprise they are a candid that this is going to be a challenge and they're concerned about the leaders that they're going to be producing for American society they know that this country is 60 white non-hispanic that it is incredibly diverse that race continues to be a polarizing issue dividing our nation and they're concerned whether they're going to be able to expose people to all of the diversity of this country that is necessary for them to produce great leaders

Well it's official Kyle dubis has officially made his first trade as Penguins president of hockey operations acquiring Riley Smith from the Vegas golden knights in exchange for a third round pick in next year's draft I'll have my full fonts and Analysis coming up right after this you're locked on penguins your daily podcast on the Pittsburgh Penguins part of the locked on podcast Network your team every day hello and welcome back to a special edition of the locked on Penguins podcast I am your host hunter hodies in order to follow me on Twitter at Hunter hodies follow the show's Twitter at Eleanor penguins and of course thank you all so much for making this your first list since last watch of the day we are free and available on all platforms I actually do have a special guest again for this special edition of the show Nick berlanski of tip of the iceberg helped break down the Riley Smith acquisition this is only going to be about an 8 to 10 maybe 15 minute video before I'll have a lot more on the trade later on for a full episode of the locked on Penguins podcast because the Penguins will obviously have the number 14 overall pick in just about two hours now when the draft officially kicks off but Nick how dubis makes his first trade Riley Smith to the Penguins for a third round pick in next year's draft that third rounder is the one they got back in the teddy blue Group trade so in essence Nick they sent out Teddy bligger and they acquired Riley Smith something that I think everyone will sign up for but I really like this move obviously I think this means that Jason Zucker is not coming back for next season and Beyond two years at five million for Smith very similar production to Zucker 26 goals 56 uh points excuse me underlyings are really good especially in transition and at five on five offense when you saw this trade what were your immediate reactions or thoughts excuse me my immediate thought was okay it's a little surprising here because I would have expected you know the defense the goaltender to be the first priority but when something comes up something comes up and apparently Riley Smith came up on the trade market and I think this was a really good deal by by Kyle dubis and we you talk about how it's the same pick and it's funny that one general manager opened the door the other one slammed it shut and that's Kyle dub is slamming it shut getting Riley Smith for a third round pick but when I first saw it I thought okay there's the Penguins top six but also somebody that basically like you mentioned closes the door and Jason Zucker somebody that I would have liked to see the Penguins resign but I think at the end of the day when you look at everything encompassing with this trade it's gonna end up being a better move for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the long run I agree and the way I saw it with this acquisition Penguins had a choice here and you can see that front office actually has a plan with this move they could have been like okay we're going to commit a lot of term and money to Zucker or we could go shorter term similar money for someone who puts up very similar production and that's what they're doing in acquiring Riley Smith and sending Zucker out the door that was my first immediate reaction to the trade yeah what what with the Zucker situation I think you also have to look at it with the fact that you know Jason Zucker was great last season but he was also volatile like I do think that he could have replicated what he did this past season but at the same time the way that he plays and the speed at which he plays in the way that he basically throws his body around like he's Invincible even though he's shown that he is not uh there was a question about whether or not on a five-year deal you would have even gotten three healthy years out of him now again I don't want to bash Jason Zucker because I do think that he was great in the locker room for that team I think he was great on the ice for that team specifically this past season but Riley Smith is a more trustworthy person to put on that side knowing that the best ability as you know Hunter is always availability I mean it's the most overused term in sports and uh Riley Smith definitely gives that to the Penguins in Spades yeah he hasn't even missed five games over the past couple of Seasons so he is very healthy you know I and I I understand Zucker was healthy for the team this year but as you said Nick do you really think that was going to be the case on a four to five maybe six year term for five 5.5 million and also this was a career year for him do we really know if he was going to put up 27 goals for the next three to four seasons so I get it from that perspective and Smith this basically rounds out your top six they'll have some combination Jake gensol Sydney Crosby Brian Russ slash Ricard Raquel Riley Smith Afghani Malkin the other roster Raquel on the second line and I think your top six is close to if not just as potent even though Zucker is not there don't get me wrong I think Zucker is the better player if if he would have wanted two times five I would have said okay I'll give that to him we don't have to trade for Smith but he wanted more term dubus is probably like no I don't want to do that considering your injury history and your age so we're gonna go out and get someone who yes he's a bit older but someone who can produce just as much and there's not as much risk to it heck again they gave up a third round pick that's magic beans here yeah and I also think the other thing that you have to look at I know this isn't you know Zucker for Riley Smith trade but it almost feels like it for the Pittsburgh Penguins but even though Riley Smith I agree with you might not be as good as Jason Zucker at peak level I think he does bring a different dimension to the Penguins top six he's great on the rush which is something that the Pittsburgh Penguins just didn't have and really haven't had since maybe since Phil Kessel I I could have to go back and look at some of those other teams between now and 2018 but they don't have somebody that's going to come down on the wing and just score the easy goals I mean Jake Ensel can from time to time but he he didn't really do that last season adding Riley Smith is something that is going to add a new dimension to the Penguins top six it might not top out as high as it would if if Jason Zucker came back and played at his Peak but I think it gives a new dimension of the Pittsburgh Penguins and ultimately makes them harder to play against I agree with that for sure he he is Elite in transition if you look at all the different you know charts out there Andy and Rono do good work J fresh hockey he is very good in transition actually brings him the 89th percentile among all players if you look at Andy and Rono offensively 84th percentile you're not going to get a lot of defensive impacts from him but you also didn't get a lot of defensive impacts from from so it was fine I really like this move I didn't expect it to be the first one that he makes because I thought he would have maybe gone after a tougher defenseman a goaltender but in terms of replacing someone who you probably knew you were going to lose no matter what you can do a lot worse than Riley Smith especially when you look at the free agent class heck as we're recording this Nick Vegas just signed Ivan barbashev to five times five these players are starting to come off the market Tyler bertuzzi is potentially going to get signed by Boston the Penguins have the cap space for that but they're not going to make that move because he's the best free agent available but this is I think is better than going out into the free Asian market and overpaying someone for the next four to five years to not give you as good of production Tia and when I believe it was Elliot Freeman a 32 thoughts said there are players out there for free and boy was it as as free as you could potentially even get it with Riley Smith you sent back a third round pick that you acquired from Vegas literally two months ago so uh paying whatever the opposite of a premium is uh in Kyle dubis now that's not to say that it's gonna all work out and be great and it's gonna be a fantastic fit but Riley Smith has succeeded in a lot of the places that he's gone specifically he did in Vegas but he was pretty good in Florida too they just they overpaid him and they had too many cooks in the kitchen and then they got rid of them at the expansion draft and then you see what's happened since he went to Vegas he took advantage of the opportunity yes and another thing I do want to add just before we wrap up here Nick I've been seeing this thrown out on you know Reddit social media all these other places where penguins fans come together I understand that he is a bit older but there's no law in which you can say oh no players over 30. this player had almost 60 points this past season you obviously don't want to go out and acquire someone like Mikhail gramlin and I hate bringing that up just because he's still on the team he just wasn't a good fit but Riley Smith can play even though he is 32 years old they can get younger in other areas and I expect them to but the age thing it's only two more years he just had a great season regular season and playoffs I am fine with it despite him being on the older side yeah he's 32 but he's not Jeff Carter like that let's not let's stop drawing that comparison and the same with Mikhail granland Mikhail granland's issue is not his age it's it's his talent at this point of his career which is the unfortunate issue but like you mentioned Riley Smith not only 26 goals this season 14 points in 22 games going to the Stanley Cup and guess what he wasn't on the top line that was that was barbashev who just got signed for five by five like you mentioned there's a reason that they made the deal it wasn't they didn't want Riley Smith it's because he's an unfortunate cap Casualty that just tends to happen every single year for the Vegas golden knights yes and I will give you and horwat credit you guys predicted this on your show this week I gotta say I was looking at a few cap crunch teams Vegas did not come to mind for some reason and I apologize to all the listeners class Watchers out there this is why tip of the iceberg is also one of the best Penguins podcasts out there because they called this one from the start well I appreciate the the props I will say it was not the only one so I'm not gonna sit here and say you know what I sat down and said hey this is the move that happens it's not what I said it's it's not what happened but I did mention obviously Riley Smith in Vegas it just seems like every year you know it they want to sign Barbershop they want to sign Hill and I'm like they never have cap space so they can't have it now so yes I looked at Vegas and another team that I'm looking at now is Calgary so we'll see if the Penguins can swing another deal with Kyle dubis but Calgary has a lot of defenseman for sale that's all I'll say well Noah hanifin is one of them and I would sure love to pair him with Chris Letang that's for sure real quick here Nick before we wrap up what do you expect dudas to do next now that Riley Smith is in the fold trade down trade down that that 14th overall pick I'd love to see him do it but he's trained back in the draft that's it's really just a gut feeling he's done it twice in five years with the Toronto Maple Leafs and he just seems primed to do it once again here in this draft well we will see if that prediction also comes true from berlinski tonight NHL draft set to start at seven o'clock penguins have the number 14 overall pick either way my friends I think they're gonna walk away with a very very good Prospect even if they stay at 14 or if they trade it down but that does it for this special edition of the I write because I have to I think it's my therapy it feeds my soul I think I would be riding whether anyone read what I wrote or not author Colleen Hoover says she didn't set out for fame but her love of writing helped Fame find her Hoover dominates the New York Times bestsellers list once claiming eight of the top 10 paperback spots simultaneously she sold more than 16 million books last year alone even outselling the Bible her Legions of fans so dedicated so passionate they call themselves cohorts I have read almost every single book written by Colleen Hooper it's currently 1 11 in the morning I just finished hopeless take me back to your childhood when did you know you wanted to write um since I can remember my sister who is about three years older than me learned how to read and write before I could and I was so jealous because I'm like oh my gosh you know how to do that I want to know how to do that because I just had all these stories I wanted to tell and I was just super excited to learn the alphabet I was very disappointed that I didn't get to write my first story the first day of kindergarten years later when she attended Texas A M University com Commerce she was already married with Children she put her dreams of writing aside to study social work a more practical career to help support her three sons we were very poor we lived in a single wide trailer house we didn't have a front door knob but we lived a great life we just struggled a little bit financially Colleen never let go of her passion and began writing again just for fun but then at Christmas in 2012 a beautiful accident changed everything we bought my grandmother a Kindle for Christmas I was researching how to get a document onto a Kindle and came across Amazon's self-publishing platform and I was like oh I could just load it up here and then she can download it four months later slammed the story she planned to share just with her family landed her on the New York Times bestsellers list were you surprised yes astonished now with 25 titles to her name including Verity and ugly love Hoover's romances and psychological thrillers are emotionally gripping her most popular novel it ends with us centers on domestic violence and is Loosely based on her mother's life my mother and father divorced when I was two and one of my earliest memories was him throwing a TV at her she was able to get out of that relationship and then from then on I just remember growing up with a mother who was so strong and independent it's a book that people really care about yeah I think people that maybe have been in hard situations feel seen it's been very heartwarming to read how my mother's story has actually given strength to other women to be able to leave that their situations the story is now being adapted into a movie starring Blake Lively the cohorts yeah are having a lot of opinions about them please wear it did that surprise you it does it really does when I wrote the book it wasn't about the age of the characters it wasn't about what they were wearing it was about the message that I wanted to get across and I think the people that are doing the movie are doing such a phenomenal job shine in a light on domestic violence is one way Hoover uses her Fame for good [Music] she also hosts her annual book Bonanza charity event in our home state of Texas but Bonanza is wild it's so wild how can you explain it to somebody that's never been here before Comic-Con Disney World the lines were insane this morning thousands of readers from all over the country come to meet more than 200 authors of the sold out event Hoover started a non-profit back in 2018 it has since raised more than one million dollars for different charities that little girl who was mad she can learn the whole alphabet on day one of kindergarten you could say one thing to her about what life is like now what would you say you are going to be so happy so happy oh wow that's nice oh okay I know she's from a little town in Texas which I've actually been to um right outside of Sulfur Springs and she just has really done some things for publishing that you wouldn't believe but now she's like okay it's not just okay for me to have this she wants to lift up other writers and by the way book Bonanza raised 220 000 split between the Michael J fox foundation and reach out and read and we have to mention and all the cohorts already know this Colleen's latest suspense novel too late is out this week oh she's amazing a Powerhouse hey thanks for watching don't miss the Today show every weekday at 11 A.M Eastern 8 Pacific on our streaming Channel today all day to watch head to today.com all day or click the link right here
