The Kindness Test
Jesse smiles listening to her ten-year-old daughter talking to her friends, nodding she thought to herself, “she was much smarter and I when I was her age,” as she turns to go back upstairs these words stopped her, “I don’t care how smart he is, he is dirty, poor and shouldn’t be in our school. I don’t want him to be apart of our project.” She eased closer and listened.

The Heart's Connection
Belinda Llamas hasn’t celebrated Christmas in seven years. Christmas stole her husband Noel, twins Blyss and Nigel away from her. So, she blocks the door to Christmas and its attachments in her heart. As an Advertising Executive, she would refuse all Ads related to Christmas. She would watch no TV, nor listen to and look at anything that promotes or advertises Christmas. At the start of December, she would ask to work from home. Then on December 24, she would leave New York and go to her cabin in the Rockies. A place where Christmas and its pain won’t be able to reach her. She sends no Christmas cards and accepts none.

Poverty's Incentives
On the campus of the elite Holycross University, Vanessa Blake sat under a large Oak tree, on one of many concrete benches. Her bag of books rested on a large square-shaped concrete table, half covering the red and black checker's board painted on top. Watching the leaves fall to the ground with the help of a gentle breeze, her thoughts on what she is going to write for her thesis.
