Born on July 7, 1981, in Ranchi, Bihar, Dhoni was raised in a middle-class family. His father, Pan Singh, worked in a junior management position in MECON, while his mother, Devki Devi, was a housewife. Dhoni has a sister named Jayanti Gupta.
