Twists of Karma— A Cinderella Retelling
Cinderella's father died the second night of the ball, a three-day event for the King's son to find a wife. The woman who captivated the Prince the first day and escaped also ran off the second night to avoid him going home with her. He saw her run up a tree and hollered for Cinderella's father. Her father didn't know it was her when he chopped the tree down. It should have fallen away from him but instead collapsed on him. The Prince told his father it looked like a strong gust of wind blew it at the man.

Birds-Eye Perspective
It's warm out as I stand in front of my Gram's grave. The gravestone has a Mountain Bluebird. She said a woman should choose a spouse with the criteria of the female bluebirds. They are concerned with the area and condition of the nests the males provide, not superficial reasons. The image conjured flashes of stories and pictures from my inner slide projector.

Art Form of Weaving Words
Besides being a mother, what fulfills me? That makes me feel alive as if I am created with a purpose beyond being a wife and mother? You had concealer, foundation, blush, one to three eye shadow colors, lipstick, a thin layer of eyeliner, and mascara. Some also opted to use an eyelash curler. You also only needed a few make-up brushes.

Whitney Houston--A Legend
Music can comfort, empathize, be uplifting, and help people heal, among other benefits. Most people don't go a day without listening to it. How often do we think about the people behind the music—singers, songwriters, and instrumentalists? In this piece, I am going to talk about a legend. One of the most phenomenal voices of all time, her voice is one of the most distinct. She passed away nine years ago. Her impact on people and music will never be forgotten. There are times, I still cry when I see clips of Whitney Houston. It is difficult to believe she is gone.
