Who Is In The Mirror?
When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Like what do you really see? Have you given it much thought, who that person is staring back at you? Do you know him/her intimately, or just on the surface? Do you know what makes you tick, makes you smile, breaks your heart and where your decisions come from? Most of us do not take the time to really sit down and take a look at ourselves, who this soul is behind the eyes, the flesh and bone. WHO AM I? have you ever really asked yourself this question? And if not, why not? What prevents you from sneaking a peak behind the curtain to get a look at the mechanics of YOU? Who is the one pulling the strings, who says 'action', who is in control of lighting and makeup so to speak? At roll call, who participates and who hangs back?

What A Mountain Can Teach You
I recently got home from visiting my sister is Nanaimo, BC. It was a short yet beautiful visit, full of laughs, some cries, and a shit ton of hikes and trail walks. One day we decided to hike up Mount Benson, which is about 1050 m high, a decent excursion for a novice hiker. I was looking forward to the work out, of course. What I didn't realize is that I would be getting so much more.

A Story Of Trauma Passed Down - Love In All The Wrong Places
I lost my virginity at 13 years old on a leather couch in my friend's basement. It was the middle of the week, after school, in grade 8, I just casually had sex with a fellow classmate. I can clearly remember why I did it and it wasn't raging hormones, I actually didn't really want to have sex at all ( I was not raped, I consented) but rather to feel closeness. I wanted to feel like I was special and like I was important, you know, all eyes on me kind of thing. I thought If I gave something as special away as my virginity, then I would be seen as special in someone else's eyes. Then I may really matter to someone else.

One day I had to decide; did I want to continue down the path I was on, or did I want better for myself? Did I want to continue popping pills, snorting powder up my nose, smoking and drinking in excess, sleeping around and running away from myself, or did I want to heal? Did I want to keep chasing and choosing people that never really cared about me, or did I want to breathe love into myself? Did I want to live in fear of all my darkness and continue to hide from my light, or did I want to face my demons and rise?
