Chapter ONE: What’s going on? It’s the year 3050, and there are only a few humans alive. I dont think that they are going survive much longer. The apocalypse is now over, and i am doing everything in my power to save them. Wait before I say anything else, let me introduce myself. Hello, my name is Death. I am the person that everyone hates. I am probably the most hated person on planet Earth. Here’s the problem... I’m not really a person. I am more of a spirit than I am a person. I try to help the last few remaining to stay alive as much as I possibly can so that i can help the worlds population grow again. When the apocalypse hit just seven months ago, people just started dying in waves of 37. As days went by the number starting doubling. When everyone’s family members starting dying, I became one of the most hated things on the planet. Here’s the story of how it all started. On April 19, 3050, 101 volcanoes erupted in a single day which caused the sky to be blotted out. Without sunlight, planet Earth begins to freeze. People ended up burning things in order to keep warm. They ended up getting sick due to the extremely cold weather. Some of them were so bothered with the cold weather and could not handle it so it drove them insane to the extent where their insanity drove them to be serial killers. These were the people who we had to watch out for in order to survive. Once they hit the serial killer stage of life, they had become zombie like but kept their good looks, meaning that they still looked like themselves. Instead of of the typical zombie cravings, these zombies wanted all 206 bones in a persons’s body. The world went from having 10.5 billion people to only 3.2 million spread out over all 195 countries. When it comes to the county of Monroe Republic, there is only about 320 people throughout the 50 states that Monroe Republic is split into. So for there to be so little people to be alive is scary for me. I am terrified that these volcanoes are going to erupt again very answer soon. At that rate, we all would be dead, and life as we knew would be over. Now that you know the world is now in the post-apocalyptic phase, i would like to tell you how the world was pre-apocalypse. Seven months ago felt like a lifetime ago. Everything seemed so normal. Then April 19th rolled around and everyone started panicking when the sky went from the prettiest baby blue to pitch black. The scariest part about this whole situation was seeing al of those people pausing in their tracks and staring off in space before they turned. Of course at that point i was being blamed for all of this horrific occurrence they thought i was trying to get back at God for something. Honestly it is so crazy how many times a day that I hear all of the survivors saying how much they hate me. They see me as the Grimm reaper. That is the only thing I hate about living amongst the living. A few more days pass by before we noticed any more changes had occurred. A fair amount of people got sick and started dying off slowly one by one. By the start of 3051, the worlds population went from 3.2 million to 234,896. This time it was caused by something other than volcanoes for the first time in thousands of years. This time it was much different. I was doing my own thing, minding my own business. You know, normal spirit stuff when i noticed something that i had not noticed since before the apocalypse had started. When i saw them i got excited. I got more excited that a kid a candy store or someone’s dad when the nearby donut store’s hot sign is on. When I saw them, i knew my life was extended! It’s been about 2 years since the apocalypse had occurred and the world’s population has done nothing but decrease since April of 3050. As of 3052, the worlds population started growing again. I whisper to myself as the expecting parents walk by where i hang out. “See you in 9 months youngster.” The expecting parents stop in front of me suddenly. The dad, confused. The mom, looks around and smiles slightly. She looks at her husband and says “i don’t think that dying is all that bad now.” The husband stands and glares at her for a minute before he says to her “Honey, are you all right? What made you say that dying is all that bad now?” She pauses for a second before answering the question. A minute or two passes before she answers. She looked at her husband, smiles and says “I don’t know exactly what came over me but once we passed the courthouse just then something just snapped in a sense.” The husband just stands there for a second thinking of what to say next. He smiles at her then says to her quite ecstatically “maybe you had a sudden realization that we are going to be parents!” The expecting parents are off to spend one time together before this wonderful baby comes. I Rome around a little bit longer in Downtown Abby. I end up spending another 2 and a half hours in Downtown Abby roaming around before i saw someone else that catches my eye, then another and then another. Within those 2 and a half hours, I saw another four women who were pregnant. I am probably more excited that anyone would expect, like a Star Wars fan when a new episode comes out. When i saw the first couple of pregnant women, my excitement got the better of me. I jumped with joy, excitement, and so many more joyful emotions. Call me crazy but to see all of these women expecting makes me ecstatic because these women don’t hate me now. A few months pass by, and some of these women have had their babies. The others have a few more days or a couple of weeks until their babies are born. The year is now 3053. All of the expecting parents have had their babies, and they are so cute and so precious. As of February of 3053, the population has grown by a total of eight people. Of course that’s not a lot to keep me alive, but eight is good enough for now. These eight babies saved my life. How? If eight people died, I would be 8 steps closer to earth myself. Therefore, i hope every woman has a kid so that i can stay alive as long as i possibly can. Nothing too major happens in the next two days, then on March 15, 3053 there are 50 women in the country of Monroe Republic that just now announced their pregnancies, along with 12 other women in other countries that announced theirs on the same day. 62 more steps closer to living a long life. As long as the world’s population stays above 235,056 i will be fine. At this rate the planet’s population will have no problem going back to the way it was before.
