The Heart Locket Hunt for Humanity

Foreword: I haven’t tried my hand at creative/fictional writing since high school 10 years ago. So here goes nothing. All I need are dramatic elements that everyone can relate to, right? I feel like the range of 600 - 2000 words doesn’t allow a ton of room for character development, but I’ll at least have a protagonist and antagonist as most good fiction stories have.
