'Mr. Destiny'—It's Another Wonderful Life
Hello, and welcome back to Second Chances where I give the maligned and forgotten another shot at the spotlight. As I write this, Christmas was three days ago. Though a lot of various things have become commonplace at Christmas over the years, one movie that has become traditional for people to watch every year is Frank Capra's classic It's a Wonderful Life. The story of a man discovering how he touched the lives of many is the very definition of inspirational. Needless to say, such a popular and universal message is ripe for copying, and there have been tons of copycats over the years. Even Married... With Children spoofed it back in 1989. However, my favorite take on the idea is a mostly forgotten 1990 comedy-drama called Mr. Destiny.

For the Weirdos: 12 Non-Traditional Christmas Movies
Hello, and welcome back to Silver Linings where I shower gifts of attention on the maligned, forgotten, and ignored. It's Christmastime again, and I love digging into my movie collection. While I do enjoy some of the season's staples like Miracle on 34th Street and A Charlie Brown Christmas, I do find myself aching for something different. I established last year that I'm not really a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas media, seeing as I talked about Christmas games, joke songs, and obscure foreign language films. However, it goes further than that.

20 Razzie Picks Worth Watching
Hello, and welcome back to Silver Linings where the unfairly maligned is always welcome. I am not a film snob. Even though I do take a look at critics' opinions about a movie, I don't take it as gospel. The same thing applies when it comes to the award contenders. I can think of plenty of Oscar-winning movies that I can't stand. On the flip side, there are the Golden Raspberry Awards. The Razzies, which are given the night before the Academy Awards every year, to "honor" the worst movies of the year. It's often tasteless, prone to going after easy targets, and a laugh riot.

Forgotten Quests: The Original Xbox
Hello, and welcome back to Silver Linings where I dive into the maligned and forgotten and see what I can dig up. On 15 November 2001, Microsoft released the original Xbox. It was a gamble to be sure. The prior time an American console was released (the Atari Jaguar) was a massive failure. However, Microsoft had the strongest machine ever designed at the time, bold plans for an online infrastructure, and a big green guy named Master Chief to get people interested. While the sixth console generation ended with the Playstation 2 as the de facto champion, the Xbox's strong second place finish encouraged Microsoft to stay in the console market.

My Favorite Forgotten Stephen King Books
Hello, and welcome back to Second Chances where I'm brave enough to give another look at the maligned and forgotten. It's hard to believe that the foremost horror author of modern times Stephen King has been writing for over fifty years now. I first got into him thanks to the movie The Shining. I know he didn't like Kubrick's adaptation, but it did get me to read the book. And guess what? They're both awesome, just in different ways!

Beyond K-Pop
Hello, and welcome back to Silver Linings where I give a voice to the maligned, forgotten, and ignored. The Korean music scene has been on a hot streak for the last few years. This is attributed entirely to the genre known as "K-pop," South Korea's equivalent of the "J-pop" that Japan had pushed into anime fans' iPods for decades now. One of the biggest successes in music video history came thanks to Park Jae-sang, known to the world as "Psy," whose music video for the song "Gangnam Style" went viral to the point that, as of this writing, it has been viewed 3.2 BILLION (that's with a "B") times, making it one of the most watched videos in history. While subsequent international success eluded Psy, the group known as BTS took the ball and ran with it, becoming the most successful Korean act ever.

'Ghost in the Shell': When Live Action and Anime Don't Mix
I've been known for keeping an open mind when it comes to movies. I have been pleasantly surprised more than once, and even the bad stuff at least gives me experiences worth talking about. Such is the case when my girlfriend and I sat down to watch the 2017 live adaptation of Ghost in the Shell. The original anime from 1995 would show up on both of our lists of the greatest animated films of all time. Needless to say, we were likely to be very critical, and it didn't take long for things to come up that angered us. I wouldn't go so far as to call the live action version the worst movie ever or anything; as far as I'm concerned, nothing's worse than The Black Dahlia. However, its issues absolutely disgusted me.
