The History of the Carrots
Carrots are believed to have originated in Afghanistan over 1,000 years ago and were purple or yellow in color. The orange carrot we know today was bred in the Netherlands in the 16th century. Carrots were initially cultivated for their medicinal properties and were used to treat a variety of ailments, including digestive problems and infections.
