I am a mom of 3 rambunctious boys with a love of many, many things!

The Same Four Walls
I've heard the phrase, 'if walls could talk' so many times. It's so ridiculous because we actually do! We just don't talk to the humans who dwell within us. Seeing how scared they become with fictional ghost stories, it never seemed to be a good idea. How boring would our life be if our human moved away in fear and we never got another to entertain us? That doesn't mean we don't have a little fun ourselves. East is the only one of us who has done it. With a view of the hall, East sees when the human is near and sometimes she whispers unintelligible words to see how the human will respond. The rest of us giggle when the human peeks into the room with that fearful hesitation. I think the best laugh we had was when East made squeaking noises and the human thought there was a mouse. If we were a floor we would have been rolling laughing.

4- The Mountain Game
As soon as Luke was able to walk, he learned to run. His determination to keep up with his older brother propelled his development forward. As music played energetic music through the television speakers, Matthew and Luke chased each other around the coffee table, then the island in the kitchen. The nonstop giggling slowly grew in volume as their little legs moved faster.

“Is it going to snow?” Matthew had only seen snow once in his life. The dreary skies looked promising but each year it would be the same. The wind would be cold and the sky would be gray but no snow would fall their way. Luke, who had never seen snow, piped up with the word he had only heard about from his brother’s flashcards.

2- Finding Bear
Another beautiful day poked its way through the trees in the distance and over the fence of the yard. The grass and flowers were wet from the dew and were just beginning to pull their way up to the light from the sun. Spring was in the air. The sun, however, began to disappear just as suddenly as it had appeared. A dark cloud was drifting overhead and a slight drizzle began. Matthew pressed his face against the glass, pouting at the change in the weather. He held a soccer ball under his arm but let it fall in disappointment. There was no way he was going to be let outside now.

The front door opened as Mommy returned from her morning walk with Butch and Luke. Matthew had still been asleep when she left so he was quick to greet her at the door with the request for breakfast.

In Darkness, May You See the Light
The boy had wandered into the woods and I became afraid. The woods were dangerous and he was so small and defenseless. Without a second thought, I flew over the trees, scanning urgently for the child. When at last I found him, his head was on his knees, his arms wrapped around his legs, and his shoulders shook with sobs. So alone was the boy who sat on the dirty floor. I did not understand how he could give up. Did he really think I'd abandon him? Movement caught my attention and I looked in horror. Darkness seemed to be caving around him and I could see the fear starting to take hold. Why was he afraid? Was he afraid because he was alone? Or was he afraid of the dark?
