Straw Is A Sad Movie, But The Twist Ending Goes Beyond a Movie

You see, life has a funny way of building us up to a breaking point. You might feel like you're doing everything right, working hard, putting in the hours, trying to make things work. But one day, when the weight of it all becomes too much to bear, you can find yourself in a place where you feel nothing but exhaustion, frustration, and defeat. It is in situations like this that makes you feel like an overwhelming storm, and all it takes is just one final gust to knock everything over. This one thing, as in the movie "Straw", is what we often don't see coming.

I think about this a lot, especially after going through the story line of Tyler Perry's Straw on Netflix.

The movie narrates the story of Janiyah Wiltkinson, a single mother who's struggling to keep her head above water. She's this kind of woman who works two jobs, and desperately trying to put food on the table for her daughter, Aria, who's also suffering from seizure. It was actually tough for Janiyah to survive with life because every step forward she put, feels like two steps back and it continued that way in a cycle.

Being the strong woman that she is, Janiyah doesn't ask for help and doesn't have the luxury of any support system. She really don't have any one to lean on, and no one was there to pick up the pieces when things start to fall apart for her, so she was stucked in a loop of surviving instead of living.

The story is similar to what most of us can relate to. I personally see myself in it, and maybe many of you would do too. We push through each day, just hoping that the weight we carry will somehow lift.

For Janiyah, she made us understood that we all have a breaking point in life and sometimes it can take losing almost everything we have.

It took Janiyah almost her job, her home, and all her savings before she could realize that she needs to be seen, and it's really painful to watch. For those who followed the story line, you can feel her exhaustion and sense of invisibility. Most of us has experienced this, especially when you've been in a place where you're just trying to make it through the day.

There is this deep, uncomfortable truth in the whole experience, and it's actually something most people don't really say:

"When you're constantly struggling with life, it feels like the world is blind to your fight. It's not just about the physical hardships, I mean the emotional exhaustion, constant mental weight, and loneliness that makes everything seem harder..."

The more I thought about the movie, the more I realized that Janiyah Wiltkinson's struggles are not so unique to her. Many of us have been at that place in life where we feel like we're running on empty, or just one step away from losing it all but that's what makes the story so relatable.

Janiyah's story is not just about one woman's struggle but about anyone who's ever felt pushed to the edge, anyone who's ever tried to keep it together while the world around them seemed to fall apart and in that chaos, that's when the magic happens.

In one moment, Janiyah breaks. But it's not just a breakdown, it was a breakthrough and was that moment of clarity that comes with finally saying, "Enough." It was that single moment that she realized that she is worthy of being seen, or heard.

A take home from the whole stuff is that she did not find her strength in the moments she was strong, she actually found her strength in the vulnerability that comes when she can't hold it together anymore and that's actually the part of her journey that spoke to me the most.

Truth is, the breaking point in life is not the end of the road but the beginning of something new. It is in these cracks that the light gets in and it is through these brokenness that we often find the strength to rebuild.

If you're reading this right now and you feel like you're at your breaking point, know this: you're not alone. We all go through ups and downs in life and sometimes, it is in the darkest moments of our life that we discover our true resilience. The movie "Straw" may just be the catalyst you need to rise again. You've got this, even if you don't feel like it right now. Just take a breath and remember that it is okay to break before you rebuild.

This is me, reassuring you, meanwhile, after here, I'm going back to my shell to cry a little, we all have our personal burdens.
